Panasonic GF2 to start shipment on December 03, 2010 (in Japan)

Panasonic Japan just announced the Panasonic GF2 will start to ship in Japan from December 03, 2010. The expected retail price of a single body around 60,000 yen. The 14mm kit costs 80,000 yen and the double kit (14mm +14-45mm) 90,000 yen.
As usual the rest of the world has to wait 1-2 months more before to get the GF2 ![]()
Amazon UK already confirmed that the GF2 is due to be released on January 24, 2011. Amazon US
and BHphoto have no delivery date.
Hmmm, maybe we will see the GF3 announcement before we have the GF2 in Stock?

2 years ago |GF2 shipping in Japan Dec 3rd is good news as we will soon get feed back from users of the camera. Now the sudden release by Oly of EPL1s with new lens makes more sense. Note that the high prices for the two models in Japan are almost identical. As you say this may well mean release of the GF3 with EVF is just around the corner so give us any news you have. Thanks

2 years ago |I Second that, Are we expecting a VF’d GF3? How about the GP1 series?
Are we going to get a weather sealed camera?

2 years ago |I hate to say it, but the best lens to mate with the GF2 is the new EPL1s lens. Small, light, and covers useful zoom range. Trade-off is no OIS, of course.

2 years ago |Initial prices(cheapest) for the GF2 in Japan:
Body only: 50,800 yen ($610 USD)
With 14mm: 67,800 yen ($815)
With 14-42: 76,300 yen ($915)
I’d expect prices to drop by 15% by February.
To compare the current prices for the GF1 are:
Body only: 38,600 yen ($465 USD)
With 20mm: 38,600 yen ($465)
With 14-45: 37,700 yen ($450)

2 years ago |Even at street price, I think it’s going to be a very hard sell for Panasonic, here in Japan.
Currently the NEX-5 can be had for:
Pancake kit: 50,000 yen
Zoom kit: 53,000 yen
Double lens kit: 55,000 yen
NEX-3 is of course even more of a bargain, and there’s no word on how much GF1 stock is left.
Outside of Japan it may still be a hard sell, with Panasonic expected to miss the entire holiday season for GF2 delivery by a fairly wide margin.

2 years ago |I still worry about relying on a touch screen for control. I use a wrist strap on my GF-1. Does that mean that I would need to do everything with my left hand with the GF-2? I can’ imagine that will be efficient or accurate.

2 years ago |hmm I use my G1 the same way… Good point to take a closer look at new way of ergonomics…
But anyway touch AF is very tempting

You got a really useful blog I have been here reading for about an hour. I am a newbie and your success is very much an inspiration for me.
