Panasonic GH2/GF2 news and previews…
The video on top shows the first Panasonic GH2 vs Panasonic GH1 (and vs Panasonic TM750) comparison. Skip the first two minutes of the video to see the comparison only. It’s very difficoult to judge the images on youtube and without knowing the image processing work they have done.
Still no news about the GH2 availability. Adorama is accepting preorders, BHphoto says the GH2 will be in Stock in December and Amazon removed the preorder option.
Engadget posted a Panasonic Lumix GF2 preview: “Panasonic has ticked the major boxes of reducing bulk and including HD video (at 60fps, no less) while seemingly sacrificing little of what made the GF1 such a richly appealing camera in the first place. Our biggest complaint, therefore, has to do with the GF2′s January release date — it’s too far away, dammit!” They also made a GF2-GF1 size comparison.
The GF2 is listed on Amazon but without any price indication.

3 years ago |After looking at different videos on the web, I have to say that the GH1 hacked firmware tends to make everything sharp and clean, providing some jerky video (or you may called film-like if you like) in quick motion. GH2 gives a balance between sharpness and video liquidity to its best while delivering better contrast than GH1 and its camcorder product, especially with less noise for low light video shots. Still, the option for 24p and 60i are better, though it may be some ‘mud’ on the video with the bit-rate limitation compared with GH1-hacked.

3 years ago |Exactly. The only useful information was in the ability to see muddy parts of the scenes. Otherwise not at all helpful.

3 years ago |The GF2 does not do 60 FPS video at all. It has 720p @ 30 FPS encapsulated in 720p @ 60 FPS and it has 1080i/30p PSF or in other words 1080p @ 30 FPS encapsulated in 1080i/60.
It is completely misleading to call either of those formats 60 FPS. They need to modify the article to say that the GF2 adds 1080p @ 30 FPS encapsulated in a 1080i/60 container over the GF1. Otherwise their video formats are identical

I’ve heard $600 USD as a rumored kit price. How accurate does everyone feel this is? Seems low given that the 14mm goes for $400 on it’s own.
