HOT! Panasonic G1 discontinued!
According to the official Panasonic japanese web site, the Panasonic DMC-G1 has been discontinued!
UPDATE: We already told you that a new MicroFourThirds camera should be announced at PMA by Panasonic. This maybe has to do something with the G1 beeing discontinued…
Thanks N.M. for the link!
P.S.: interesting, amazon just dropped the price of the black G1 model (which has been always more expensive than the red and blue models).

January 13, 2010 |Given the price differential with the GH1, it seems unlikely that Panasonic would discontinue the G1 without having something else lined up to fill the gap. Goes this mean that there’s a G2 about to be announced?

January 14, 2010 |Dunno. The price difference is mainly due to the lens. If they replace the G1, the new model will have to offer video. So what’s the difference to the GH1 then? I think that in reality the GF1 has already replaced the G1.

January 14, 2010 |I’m agree.
G1 replaced with GF1.
GH1 will be shipped without the expensive kit-lens.
And a new (expensive) model will appear.

January 19, 2010 |Saw somewhere (but cannot confirm) that Panasonic was selling the GH1 )Body Only) in the UK. The date of report was 28 Dec (after the Xmas shopping season). Can anyone comment?
Re dropping the G1: they might just issue the GH1 with a more modest lens than the pricey long zoom. They could probably do that for $1100..

Does anyone know- or has heard rumours- that Olympus is going to be discontinuing it’s high end pro line of cameras?
I was going to buy the E-3, but was told that the only ones out there are the store demo ones, and that Olympus was discontinuing their high end cameras….
Could I please get some feedback? If they’re discontinuing, I need to make a complete switch over.
Thanks much!
