Big size samples of the new SLRmagic 11mm f/1.4 lens
Last week SLRmagic announced the new 11mm f/1.4 manual lens for Micro Four Thirds. The images you see on top are the very first full size samples posted by the company. CLick on the thumbnails to enlarge the image. The focal length and aperture are very appealing but the image quality is less impressive.
You can get the lens on eBay (Click here).

2 years ago |I don’t like these plasticy looking crap lenses and the mobile phone like looking pictures from it… I tested quite a lot of c-mounts, but I guess, I loved only the Senko 25/0.95 which was bright, creamy, with great colors, just fabulous… Which I sold because of the corners on NEX. Then there is the great Navitar 75mm/1.3 which has this 3D pop, or extreme focus separation from the fore or back ground.., that no other lens has. And then I like my Fujian 35/1.7, which is super small and has something like character, because of the quite good glass compared to 25/1.4 (which I don’t use, because it is crap), however, it is only sharp in the centre (NEX – only in extreme centre) :<. And then there is one Computar 12.5/1.4 which is cool, because it gives me great colours and that special TV look, as I use it to record my rides on a cross through forests and meadows from my chest with my EP1… The "normal" – PLASTIC crappy lenses are not a good idea. C mounts that are worth it, are mostly heavier, and of metal construction. That's a fast indicator of higher quality and value.

This lens is useless. I don’t know why they’ve done that. Their lenses so far have been so-so, OK for the price, but never this bad.

One of my friend buy the brand new c-mount 8mm f1.4 lens(for 1″ CCD 2Mega pixel), with the terrible Vigneting.
And it costs almost 300 dollars. But he thinks it worthwhile, because he can’t afford the Panasonic wide-zoom lens.
And he said, with the proper crop in 4:3 mode, the view angle of his 8mm f1.4 lens still large than 14mm F2.5.
For my opinion, why not waiting for Cosina voigtlander release the special optical lens design for m4/3? The Quality will be much better. And indeed if interested in CCTV LENS, the KOWA Brand New 12mm F2.0(For 4/3″ CCD) will be better than this toy one.

Any of Panasonic’s or Olympus’s UW or fisheye will do at this point.

Sorry to tell the truth tthat 12mm f/2.0 cost about $1000 USD from source from Taiwan.
for 8mm lens, pls use Samyang (known as Rokinon, Bower, Opteka, Vivitar, etc).
Just need an adapter and it can work perfectly for both m4/3 and any mainstream DSLR system.

2 years ago |I know those 8mm fisheye lens, but it seems useful only for specific use. But the Brighter wide angle lens is for the ordinary use.
Thanks for the information and price of Kowa lens.
I would ask some friend to get the sample, and make
a decision.

2 years ago |Exactly my sentiments. I am quite happy with a .45 Wide Angle adapter (paid $30 at Amazon) which when on the Panny 14-45 at 14 comes up with 6.3mm FOV with less vignetting than this lens and very high quality images. This lens of course opens more, but then all the photos shown are at smaller apertures.
