(FT3) Olympus MicroFourThirds announcement on October 31th
A dpreview forum user says.
“I received several Olympus mailshots today about their presence at the third annual Utrecht photo fair (Dutch website http://www.zoomexperience.nl) which happens to be taking place on the weekend of October 31 / November 1. No such e-mails in previous years so perhaps they’re doing something bigger there this year – go spend your 8 euros for a chance of seeing the first (wood, black leather or whatever) mock-up of that Ex or EPy ! ”

For now, I am interested to see how Olympus is dedicating its resource to the FT system

3 years ago |How do you get an FT5 out of that post from the DP Review. I saw that and did not even see anything said about the m4/3. It simple said that an announcement will be made. In any case I think any announcement made will be made at the New York show the week before. Lets hope it will be for the E4/5.

3 years ago |My prediction: continuing the retro look, Olympus will release an M43 camera that looks like a classic OM camera, but about the same size as the Pen. The material on my OM2 looks a lot like the material in the announcement, and it makes sense to me. Perhaps the EM-1, or OM-D or something else.

3 years ago |@ John Krum and Alfons: Digital OM? Sounds interesting. I’d really like to see mFT (or FT) in classic OM design or authentic PEN one. That’s just a dream, because those types of cameras are gone – there is no digital substitute for that (look at modern cameras – it’s just not that solid feel like well designed old cameras have had). There is not even an affordable digital rengefinder camera market. I think that Olympus is the only one manufacturer who can does make it nowadays.

3 years ago |If you really want to dream, it will be Oly’s affordable answer to the M9, the OM-D, Mirror-less cdaf, with a Kodak full frame sensor and new lens mount that takes all OM lenses with focus confirmation. Same size as an OM-2 or so, but with high grade EVF instead of a pentaprism. One new autofocus 50 1.4 lens to start things off.
