2 years ago |Truly disappointed about the similar performance of XZ-1 as LX5 with excessive amount of NR at ISO200 or above. I think the current 1/1.6″ CCD manufactured by Panasonic is even worse than its LX3 and FZ50 in terms of noise performance.

2 years ago |I hear ya. The samples at DPR and digitalkamera.de were pretty soft. Part of that is definitely from the excessive NR (hopefully Oly will release a firmware patch that will allow users to tone down the NR when shooting JPEG), but I can’t help but wonder if they’ve been too ambitious with the speed of the lens and compromised its sharpness as a result.

2 years ago |Question about those art-filters. Can you adjust the layer/location of how much the effect take place?
I like some of the art-filters very much, but I would like to adjust the outer layers.
Hope someone can answer this.

2 years ago |GF2 vs E-PL2 Vs NEX5 = no surprises, NEX5 still rules for low noise – almost 2 stops better than the ‘new’ E-PL2. GF2 sits in the middle.
When is Oly gonna release a new sensor ? with full HD video ?

2 years ago |If the photo comparisons shown on PcPop link are any indication users of the new E-PL2 may be in for a shock. First the photo from the E-PL1 was way off color with strong pink/red hue not natural at all while those from GF2 and NEX5 far far better. Second and worse the picture was out of focus and not sharp by far the worst not sharp at any ISO? Hopefully this is not an indication of the quality of the new “improved” zoom lens?
I hope this EPL2 result was because of either faulty testing or camera and not typically representative but pictures do not lie and we have no translation to try to convince us otherwise? If that punchy color is what Pens users will be getting then a lot of pictures will be ruined in my opinion if taken under similar circumstances. I really find it hard to believe that the Oly processing could be that bad or camera that unsharp?
To my eyes the real contest was between the GF2 and the NEX5 with both neck and neck up thru ISO 1600 with the Pany maybe a smiggen sharper at lower ISOs. However the NEX5 clearly was the low noise winner at ISO 6200 and 12800 but who has to go that high anyway?
Given the small size of the GF2 particularily with its small kit lens I think once its excellent IQ becomes known is destined to become a real winner.

2 years ago |Correction – I should have looked at the detailed review of the EPL2 by the Polish site Fotopolis regards to color and sharpness before posting my remarks based on only one very limited and perhaps questionable review by PcPop. However the later one was the only one to give a comparison between EPL2, GF2, and NEX. Neither review gave an indication of exactly what lens was being used for the pictures. I note Fotopolis says the IBIS adds only 1-1.5 stops advantage which is much less than the 4 steps claimed by Oly. Maybe 2 steps equals 1 stop in speed?
These moves and new body do beginng to look a little more attractive to me but I still prefer the GF2.

2 years ago |TBH, the only m4/3rds camera that produces results comparable to aps-c mirrorless or dslr is the GH2. I hope the G3 and Oly’s new ‘pro’ m4/3 address this.
