- 12Megapixels, new Truepic V+ engine, faster AF, price 1700 Euro, availability in October
- Same PEN sensor but lighter AA filter and a new, professionally-tuned TruPic V+ processor.
- By Olympus: “A new algorithm to give more detail and sharpness by exhaustively processing each pixel, meaning the real performance of ZUIKO DIGITAL SHG lenses can be seen.”
- Pocket Lint: “The output that you get from the pro-standard lens is the best sharpest of any 12-megapixel camera on the market” and “If you take the two biggest competitors in this segment and say they’re using APS sensors, then edge-to-edge, the sharpness is better.”
- Amateur Photographer: “We will continue to do these [Four Thirds cameras] until micro cameras can do what other products can,” said Olympus UK’s Consumer Products marketing manager Mark Thackara. “All cameras will be mirrorless in the future.”
- Olympus Europe spokeswoman Franziska Jorke cited the autofocus and burst rate of DSLRs as still being superior to Micro Four Thirds models, along with the optical viewfinders.
