a little bit of everything…(Olympus is giving away thousand E-PM1!).
Olympus Partners with JetBlue to Kick off The PEN Ready Project
As you see from the video on top Olympus is giving away 1.000 E-PM1 cameras. You can read more about the project at penready.com.
New Olympus E-PL3 review at Techradar (Click here): “It’s beautifully engineered, stylish and puts in a blisteringly quick performance. As a compact system camera in its own right, we have to say it offers one of the best user experiences we’ve encountered to date, and as such we’d happily recommend it to a budding enthusiast in search of lightweight alternative to an entry-level DSLR.”

8 months ago |I had the opportunity to try the E-PL3 and the E-P3 in a shop, as well as a GF3. Though the Olympus cameras definitely improved responsiveness as compared to their predecessors, I found the GF3 reacting faster. AF performance was similar, but the delay after taking a picture seemed larger for Olympus. Anyone has similar experiences?

8 months ago |I had exactly the opposite experience. I had to adjust the settings of the pen but afterwards it was amazingly fast.

8 months ago |What settings should I change to make it faster?
I would like to try the next time in the shop.
I really like those Olympus cameras, so I was a bit disappointed by this.

8 months ago |Hey, you guys!!! Yeah, you guys who have been buying our products at full retail for years. Yeah, well, we’re giving away like 1,000 of these to some random people on planes. Don’t worry. You can buy them used on eBay, Craigslist and yard sales later.

8 months ago |ive gone through their site. looks like they aint giving away anyyy camera. i believe the project is they already gave 1000 people the camera, and they are going to follow them through the pictures and experiences with it.
well…. that is a bunch of BS. god damn. false advertisment… its not a giveaway… its a “gaveaway”
waste of my time.

8 months ago |It’s a little unclear what they’re doing.
They’re also going to major cities and encouraging people to find them. They were at Santa Monica Pier today; not real sure if anyone pictured holding a E-PM1 actually got to keep the thing.

8 months ago |They must have kept it, or otherwise why bother giving the bag?

8 months ago |I don’t know about this promotion – but my preordered 45mm f1.8 lens arrived today at the shop (in Calgary Canada for only $380Can).
I would have been shooting with it already but my wife was talking to her mom all afternoon and the shop couldn’t call to let me know it had arrived!
Sure, it’s off topic but I wanted to get it off my chest.

8 months ago |In Germany there are some shops that list it as cheap as 236 € (318 $). That’s really amazingly cheap. However, they are not in stock yet, and maybe the price will go up til then.

They were in New York and they say they are in Los Angeles until Friday. If only they would come to Boston.

8 months ago |I hoped it was some kind of photo contest: show your best P&S photo that would have been even better with a PEN. You know: PEN ready.
OTOH this is an interesting PEN roadshow, and they really need people to become familiar with the cameras, so this is agreat idea.

8 months ago |Is it just me or does anyone else think the guy who closes the ad appears to say ‘It’s Crap.” I suppose he’s saying “that’s a wrap” but even so it’s pretty poor advertising to let potential customers have a doubt in their mind.

8 months ago |Another useless attempt of Olympus try to lure market with bigger better mindset by giving away free PEN…the very same market that already given discount and sweet deal every time Oly release new PEN while on the other side of the world the real user of PEN must pay premium price, wait for stock to be ready, and given expensive service charge and crappy warranty….(my EPL-1 purchase while visiting N.Y is a proven fact of sweet deal and discount while my beaten 14-54 mk I is a proven fact of the other side of the world purchase…a jealous PEN user)…

8 months ago |That would be neat. Handing out a whole box of E-PM1 in little bags. They could even keep my peanuts.

8 months ago |Hey,
I am one of the people getting an E-PM1.
I am part of Olympus’ loaner program (currently have an E-PL2 μ4/3 9-18,MMF-2 on my desk from them) and can tell you the project IS legit. They ARE giving them out RIGHT NOW.
They are hitting up cities that Jetblue services from the looks of the locations they have visited so far.
My contact at Olympus’ PR firm says this is just the beginning. They have a lot more planned for the promo. They have in his words,”some very interesting people getting involved”.
Funny how the people who bitch about Olympus having crappy marketing are now bitching about Olympus going all out with marketing.
Can’t please everyone I guess.
Boooo!
