I went out to an urban bird refuge in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles. The afternoon light is great and it’s an accessible area to practice technique. I saw this guy just sitting on a branch across the lake. Waited about 45 minutes to see if he would take off. He just sat up there checking things out. I walked over and started snapping away. GH-3, Panasonic 100-400 @ 400mm; ISO 800; F 6.3 at 1/500 sec.
