Panasonic 3D cam spotted

Few days ago we told you that Panasonic would launch the new 3D camcorder…and here it is: I know that this news doesn’t match with our usual MicroFourThirds stuff but I guess that soon we will also see 3D photocameras from Panasonic!

  • spanky

Is this a separate camera than the AF-100, or is it a specialized lens you can attach to the AF-100?

  • grouchomarx

don’t know why all this fuss about 3d.

I personally have been using full hd 3D since 1972 and don’t see the need to have 3d cinema, 3d tv, etc, etc…

it seems 1954 all over again…

  • Torben

Of course to do 3D well, you need a mirror rig to be able to change the interocular distance from 7 cm down to a clean 0 cm and everything in between. Otherwise you can’t film anything closer than about 3 meters. Just ask James Cameron.

Panasonic didn’t got that memo, unfortunately.

  • An LX3.0 Owner

It is a different camera, and you can probably buy (3) AF-100s for the price, which I read in the Spring to be US$20,000.

It appears to be more like an AG-HMC150 body with twin lenses.

  • Duff

Eek. Without control for interocular distance, your eyes will hurt when watching this footage.

This camera is not a good ambassador to bring 3D to the masses. If this cam gets used, 3D will die a quick sudden death.

  • Pretty old news…they had a site up for it in the spring.

  • spanky

Might be time to change the name of the site from 4/3 Rumors to Oly/Pana Rumors. We’re starting to discuss camera technology other than 4/3 sensors lately, which is fine. Just suggesting.

  • G.

Is it just me or does that photo look like a really Johnny 5 from the movie Short Circuit? :)

  • Jack

    Hehe…can’t wait for the 3D porn ! :D
