Cy:The lion dance was shot HAND HELD with a NONE I.S. Lumix 20/1.7 lens. ISO was at 1,600, lens was at F2.8. The only stabilisation was from the Lumix GX85 camera.
I was really surprise how smooth and shake free the clip is! Panasonic Lumix stabilisation sure came a long way!

Dmitry: “If anyone is interested, I tested the new Kipon
Canon EF to m43 Autofocus adapter with 10 Canon EF mount lenses.   Here is the video
https://youtu.be/n_s_iPZyMf8
I bought this adapter and the information on various sites on this version 2 of the adapter is often wrong.  For example Adorama and Amazon post wrong photos (of the old adapter) in their description.  This version was announced by Kipon in February of 2017.    Since there is a lot of misinformation I just bought one and tested on my EM1 Mark 1.”

World’s first GH5 Soft Rubber Eyecup

Share

Chris Engell just sent me this:

Hello Panasonic GH5 users, I am the designer of the World’s first Soft Rubber Eyecups for Sony and now the great Panasonic GH5. I am receiving great reviews on my GH5 Soft Rubber Eyecup. I have attached a few pics of my Eyecup on my GH5 showing that the LCD is not blocked much at all and is easy to open and close. My Eyecup provides many advantages and the main one is, it makes viewing the AWESOME EVF bright and super clear! Without my, Eyecup is like watching a movie outside, with my Eyecup is nice and dark, great color and contrast and much easier to focus or confirm focus! Please check it out. www.ebay.com/…/Soft-Rubber-Eyecup-Panasonic-GH…/192217690796
Any questions please contact me on my listing.

Thank you!
Christopher

Olympus TOUGH TG5 review at CameraLabs: “there isn’t a better rugged waterproof compact around”

Share

CameraLabs tested the new Olympus TG-5:

There isn’t a better rugged waterproof compact around than the Olympus TOUGH TG-5. Like all great cameras it gets the basics right – a bright, good quality 25-100mm f2 – 4.9 lens paired with a quality 12 Megapixel sensor and high performance TruePic VIII processor. It builds on that with a great set of features and shooting modes, including Pro capture continuous shooting, 4K video, RAW support, and superb macro modes. Finally, it provides the control you need to make the most of those features, whatever the environment. The only downside is the poor performance of the movie continuous AF.

Also Photographyblog reviewed the new Olympus camera:

The Olympus TG-5 is certainly one of the better toughened-construction cameras we’ve used and one that hasn’t been unduly compromised by the fact that it has indeed been reinforced. Whether you think it’s worth spending £400 on what is largely a point and shoot digital camera, albeit one ready for battle, will depend on your specific requirements. But it is a capable, consistent performer, despite the small sensor.

TG-5 at Amazon, Getolympus, BHphoto, Adorama and ParkCameras.

Jon:I’ve used m4/3 cameras quite a bit in the past and really enjoyed the E-M5 and E-M1 in particular.  I had some all the way back to the Panasonic G2 and GH2.  I was never completely satisfied with the overall image quality to the point where I felt REALLY comfortable using m4/3 as my main camera (even though I did for a bit, but went back to a FF DSLR).  Not really comfortable until the GH5 that is.  I bought a G85 about 6 months ago and was so impressed with it I decided to buy a GH5 and sell my D750.  I’ll be using the GH5 as my main camera now, with a Nikon Df as a backup/extra camera.  What has surprised me the most is how clean the files are at base ISO and how good the dynamic range is, compared to other m4/3 cameras I’ve used.  I’ll be taking the GH5 with me on my big western trip in July (Yellowstone, Glacier and more).
Here’s my image gallery so far for the GH5.
