It’s pretty busy here in the rumors world. I received dozens of rumors from new sources and I want to thank them all! As you can imagine I have to cross check all rumors with my reliable sources.

There are two things I have to keep in mind when I work with rumors:
1) I know the big companies often do spread false rumors
2) Sources can intentionally or unintentionally share some wrong information. Also trusted sources gave me (unintentionally) wrong rumors in the past!

There are a couple of things I am working on:

1) The Panasonic GF camera specs.
I also got a rumor from new sources about a second GF camera which will be announced in a couple of months.

2) The Panasonic 25mm f/1.4
I am trying to find out the price of the lens (hope it’s not over $700)

3) The new Olympus PEN camera(s)
So will there be one or two new PEN cameras in June? Got some more rumors from new sources and I can only say the answer seems to be more YES for teo PEN models :)

4) The new Olympus lenses
While most of the sources are pretty sure the 12mm 2.0 lens is coming there is some conflicting report about the second portrait lens. I have been told Olympus had a couple of different options. This might be the cause of the conflict.

Anyway, all that stuff is coming in June! You can expect me to post FT4 FT5 rumors at any time! Stay tuned :)

I am in touch with many dealers to talk about the present and future Micro Four Thirds cameras. We are not talking about rumors only but also about hard facts. The dealers confirmed the Panasonic GF2 is not selling as well as the older Panasonic GF1. They are currently selling more NEX cameras than GF2. Most of the dealers do think that Panasonic should make two kind of GF cameras, one ultra-compact and tiny model to compete against the NEX-C3 and a more advanced and bigger model with full manual controls and maybe built-in EVF. The current GF2 simply is neither fish nor fowl. Let’s see what kind of GF camera Panasonic will announce! In times like this I am having a lot of fun working on rumors. I really feel that some of the products we will see during June will be very much appreciated by the Micro Four Thirds folks.

Yesterday we told you that Panasonic would announce the new Panasonic-Leica 25mm f/1.4 Micro Four Thirds lens in June. So it might not be casual that the excellent Four Thirds version of the Pana-Leica has been officially signed as discontinued at BHphoto (Click here to see it). There are some in Stock at Amazon (Click here) but available through third party resellers only.

And it also many not casual that the Panasonic GF2 with 14-42mm lens is available for $499 only at Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).

In Europe the E-P2 has been discounted and sells for 399 Euro (yes amazing) at rajalacamera (Finland) and Fotohanskeuzekamp (Holland). I didn’t notice the same deals in other stores but you can always check for yourself by clicking those direct links: [shopcountry 14830]. A couple of european dealers confirmed that Olympus told them the E-P2 is now out of production! That’s why you see those price drops.

I am getting many rumors about the upcoming new Olympus cameras. What I can tell you today is that I am sure there will be a new PEN camera in June. But there is something I didn’t figure out yet. People is sending me different specs and I do believe this may happen because there are two different PEN cameras coming? That’s FT3 only for now, but that could explain the two different sort of rumors I am receiving in those days. I will try to post some FT5 rumor as soon as possible! I ask my sources to clarify which PEN is coming when. Thanks for your help!

UPDATE: The rumors I received are about one PEN entry level camera and about a high quality PEN with built-in EVF (just like the [shoplink 19929]Fuji X100[/shoplink]).

A couple of dealers contacted me to say that Olympus told them the [shoplink 14830]Olympus E-P2[/shoplink] is now out of production. I guess this is not a surprise for none of us. The price has fallen a lot and it’s now pretty close to the E-PL2:

I am taking some time off because I need a lot of time to investigate about the future Panasonic and Olympus products. There will be two announcements in June, one from Panasonic and one from Olympus. And we can expect a lot of nice products! I postponed my vacation to France in July to have more time on 43rumors.

New server and your support.

There are still many issues on that website (like for example the impossibility to edit your own avatar). I now have an online ticket system where my designer can see the issues and work on them. SO feel free to suggest me your improvement ideas! One more thing: I will buy a $2000 server to move 43rumors and Mirrorlessrumors on a much faster platform. The website loading time should become 3x-4x time faster! And in times like this where there are many rumors and announcements it should avoid crashes too.

Today I am pretty sure (let’s say around 99,9%) that Panasonic will announce a new Micro Four Thirds camera (oh yes!) and the highly anticipated 25mm f/1.4 Leica branded lens. A couple of weeks ago a trusted source told me that this camera would be a new GF model. I checked around and a couple of trusted + new sources confirmed that Panasonic will launch the new GF camera in June. I didn’t get any image of it so I am not sure yet how it will look.
I confess that I was really surprised when I first got the rumor. The [shoplink 17361]Panasonic GF2[/shoplink] is only 6 months old. Is it already going to be replaced? The [shoplink 14828]GF1[/shoplink] production have been stopped and the GF2 is getting some bigger price drops. I am not counting on a [shoplink 21906 ebay]L1[/shoplink] resurrection yet (at least not yet in June). Hmm, I hope some of my other sources can send me the answer after reading that post!
