(FT5) Birger to make EOS lens to M43 adpater with aperture control!

Share

The US company Birger will soon release a new Canon EOS to Micro Four Thrids adpater that allows aperture control! According to Barry Green (Dvxuser) we should get more news in a couple of weeks and the price should be something like $700. There is no information yet if it will also allow to use the autofocus. If the answer is yes than dear Canon-friends, you can join to Micro Four Thirds using all your lens gear! You will be able to use IS lenses like the [shoplink 17967 ebay]24-105mm f/4[/shoplink] and ultrafast primes like the Canon 50mm f/1.2 on Micro Four Thirds cameras.
Currently you can use manual EOS to M43 adpaters only. There are plenty of them [shoplink 17965 ebay]on eBay and they cost between $15 and $70 (Click here to see current auctions)[/shoplink].

P.S:: Birger already made a EOS to PL-mount adapter which has built-in wireless control and full AF and aperture control!

Panasonic GH2 video quality much better than Canon 60D and 5D (says EosHD)

Share

Panasonic GH2 1:1 crop mode MACRO from Andrew Reid.

Andrew Reid from EosHD posted the first part of the Canon 60D versus Panasonic GH2 Review. He pays a particular attention to the crop mode: “1:1 crop mode enables you to change between a portrait field of view and extreme telephoto at the press of a button, and the telephoto view comes without sacrificing detail (quite the opposite!) and maintains the aperture of the lens, so a Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 for example becomes a Zeiss 400mm F1.4 yet for $500 and the size of a beer can.”

Andrew finds the video quality of the GH2 better than the 60D: “What is frustrating for Canon now, is that the GH2 is going to go pretty much unchallenged on the market for a good few months. Even the Canon 5D Mark II has a sensor which is really crippled by poor image processing relative to the GH2, so you will get a much higher resolved and more detailed image from the GH2 than on the 5D Mark II. And it’s not just detail – dynamic range, colour – everything suffers if the image processing is not up to snuff.

Thanks Andrew for posting the review but your conclusion makes us even more crazy that we can’t buy the GH2 yet! Right now you can only buy the japanese GH2 on [shoplink 17664]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink]. And there is one more bad news for US readers: Amazon changed the Panasonic 100-300mm availaibility status to “This item will be released on January 1, 2011“. I hope that’s just a mistake because european stores like Amazon Deutschland and Amazon UK already do have the lens in Stock and even [shoplink 17618 ebay]eBay has some of them on auction[/shoplink].

Philip Bloom tested a new external mic for the Panasonic GH2!

Share

GH2: Movember Gala Party from Philip Bloom on Vimeo.

Philip Bloom tested the new secret external mic for the GH2: “I took the UK pre-production [shoplink 16254]GH2[/shoplink] with me along with the [shoplink 15659]Voigtlander 25mm f.95[/shoplink] and a brand new DSLR mic which I can’t say exactly what it is just yet, except it’s bloody awesome as you will hear. It was plugged straight into the GH2 (there are meters on the LCD for audio levels and manual control but no headphone jack) and I recorded most of the vox pops in the noisiest part of the club and you can still hear them. Amazing! As soon as I can blog about this new mic I will. It is going to be a DSLR must have.

Philip hopes Panasonic will add 25p on the european GH2 model. And for him one of the most amazing features is the 1080p 1:1 cropping mode. And I could not agree more!

Hurry! Fotomundus has one single [shoplink 15659]Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95 Nokton in Stock on eBay and shipping worldwide (Click here)[/shoplink].

The need for fast video lenses: Cosmicar/Canon/Tokina 12.5-75mm f/1.8

Share

This is the only [shoplink 17922 ebay]GH1 + 12.5-75mm[/shoplink] lens I found on vimeo :)

We have still to wait a little bit before to get our GH2. To kill the time I searched for some exotic fast zoom lenses that we (and I) might could use on the GH2. There is one particular interesting lens I found on [shoplink 17922 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink]. The Cosmicar-Canon-Tokina 12.5-75mm f/1.8 C-mount lens! The focal lenght and constant fast aperture is very interesting and but sadly I found only one video taken with the GH1. The Karaoke part is terrible :)
A few pictures can be seen at Flickr. The japanese website geocities.jp tested the Canon version of the 12.5-75mm lens.

That lens is deifnitely not a professional solution but we have to wait a few months before Panaosnic releases the already announced fast wide and normal zooms!

Finally good news! GH2 has arrived at Henry’s store in Canada!

Share
[shoplink 16254][/shoplink] We just received a few mails from our Canadian readers. They told us Henrys.com (for non-canadians, they are also on eBay) received their first GH2 cameras! It’s one of the first “non-japanese” stores to have them.

S.G.: “I ordered a GH2 from Henry’s in Toronto and they just received it (they’ll be shipping to me soon)
feel free to call them; they’re taking orders for other shipments now.
I was quite surprised… they said they were one of the first shops in North America to get it.

And T. :” I just logged in to my Henry’s account and found that the status fr both my GH2 order and my 100-300mm order changed from >Order Pending< to >Order Shipped<”

P.S: Amazon deleted your order? Preorder the Panasonic GH2 at Adorama (Click here). They are reading our website and they gently told us that the GH2 will be start shipping early December.

Panasonic 100-300mm test at Omuser

Share

Omuser.com posted a series of image samples at any focal length an aperture (Click here to read the google english translation). Image quality and build quality of the [shoplink 16261]Panasonic 100-300mm[/shoplink] are very good. The AF is quick and quiet. The only “issue” is that the lens is big and heavy. But damn that is a 200-600mm FF equivalent! And if you compare it to other lenses the Panasonic is really very small and very cheap:

Sigma 150-500mm for $999
Sigma 300-800mm f/5.6 for $6,999.00

The Panasonic 100-300mm lens is already in Stock in Europe at Amazon Deutschland, Amazon UK
In US you can only preorder the lens at Amazon US, Adorama, BHphoto.

You can also buy all new Panasonic lenses on eBay:
