HOT news! I am now receiving the top info from top sources about the GX1. The camera has NOT a built-in viewfinder. But there will be a new external high resolution viewfinder! The camera will compete against the [shoplink 26379]Sony NEX-5n[/shoplink] and will have a very similar price. I am currently working on the specs. So stay tuned on 43rumors ok! I will have plenty of news soon!

(UPDATED from FT3 to FT1) GX1 to be announced on Oct 25 and design close to GF1 and without built-in EVF? (Digicaminfo)

Share

Will the GX1 have or nor a built-in viewfinder like the one described in the Panasonic United States Patent Application 20100060771?

Important update: Two sources quickly answered me that the rumor from Digicam-info about the GX1 coming next week is NOT correct. I ask these anonymous sources if they can also tell me if the rest from the rumor is correct or wrong (GF1 design and no built-in viewfinder info).

What did Digicam-info say? According to their sources the GX1 will be announced next week the October 25. And they also say the GX1 will NOT have a built-in viewfinder and that the design is very close to the [shoplink 14828 ebay]Panasonic GF1[/shoplink].

As I said, my sources said the release date is not correct, let’s also hope they will tell me that it is not an exact copy of the GF1. I would be very disappointed if the only GX1 new feature would be a slightly improved sensor. I hope that there will be more than just that coming form Panasonic!

Nikon and Sony production down for 1-2 months!

Share

First I want to say that I wish all our Thai readers and friends all the best to recover from the huge flood that hit their country. What’s coming next is just a technical informative report about the consequences of the flood on Nikon and Sony’s industry. As you see from the image on top (Source: Nationalmultimedia) the Nikon and Sony factories have been submerged by water. I talked with my sources about the current situation in the area and they told me there will be a production stop of at least one-two months! Nikon will probably delay the D800 announcement and Sony will delay the [shoplink 8454]Sony NEX-7[/shoplink] shipment. Also Amazon.com (Click here) is not taking any NEX-7 preorders anymore with the following reason: “Due to manufacturing concerns”. And the surprising thing is that they invite buyers to buy m43 cameras because “These sleek new cameras with lens versatility are available today” (again, click here to read).

What does it mean for m43? The NEX-7 gained a lot of attention from the press and photographers. If the NEX-7 will be delayed until January or even February than this could be a big chance for the upcoming Panasonic GX1 camera. It’s not “Schadensfreude” (malicious joy). It’s a matter of fact that if the GX1 will be similar to the NEX-7 than some of buyers may will get that camera instead of the Sony. Anyway, it’s up to Panasonic now to not disappoint us!

(FT3) Panasonic GX1 (GF1 successor) coming in mid November!

Share

Another fake GX1 design that looks like the [shoplink 23692 ebay]Panasonic L1 (See that cam on eBay)[/shoplink]. Source: Yahoo Via: E-P1.net.

According to one of our sources the [shoplink 14828]Panasonic GF1[/shoplink] successor will be named “Panasonic GX1” and be the first line of a new kind of camera. And the good news is that will be announced in one month (around mid November). It will have a new sensor, a new design and probably the most intriguing news I got is about a sort of new designed viewfinder (I should receive some details soon). All I can say for now is that we are now entering a new “rumor” period thanks to Panasonic. I hope to get more news about the GX1 as soon as we go closer to the announcement! Stay tuned!

All I know for sure (That’s FT5) is that the new amazing [shoplink 25104]Panasonic 14-42mm X lens[/shoplink] will be the kit lens of the GX1.

First 14-42mm X lens sharpness test and new 45-175mm X lens video.

The Japanese website DSLR-check (Click here) posted a set of image comparisons between the [shoplink 25104]14-42mm pancake X zoom[/shoplink] and other lenses. What’s really interesting with the test is that he used the lens on both Panasonic and Olympus camera. As you know Panasonic has a lens correction while the Olympus has not. You really can see the difference! At first glance I wouldn’t recommend that lens for the use on an Olympus camera if you shot JPEG’s only. Otherwise the lens performs very well on the Panasonic cameras! And keep in mind how tiny that zoom lens is, that makes the image quality of the lens look even more impressive!
