FZ pictures, LX7 with f/1.4 lens. Le Monde de la Photo leaks G5 announcement time (6am Paris time on July 18th)

Share

After Telegraph UK (Article has been removed!), Photoprice and Nphoto also Le Monde de la Photo showed some bits of the Panasonic presentation. The website now has been removed and you see an error page only. A very small portion of the leak has been cached by another website Newsvortex.net.

The title of the article is: “Panasonic Lumix G5: A replacement of DSLR cameras?“. It includes the Embargo date which is 18 July at 6am in the morning Paris time. I posted the full FZ60 and FZ200 pics on MirrorlessRumors.com (CLick here). These cameras actually have something the G5 has not…a dedicated M mode for video!

I still haven’t found pictures of the new LX7 but Le Mounde de La Photo leaked the lens specs which (if true) is 24-110mm f/1.4-2.3. Still no info about the sensor size. Telegraph UK wrote: “The former is a top of the line compact camera with a fast f1.4 Leica lens, 10.1 megapixel Mos sensor and 3-inch screen.” But is it a real Sony RX100 competitor or not? That’s the question!

Stay tuned on 43rumors!!!

P.S.: Don’t forget that there is a Canon announcement on July 23th  and a Samsung announcement next week you can follow on MirrorlessRumors!

(FT5) UPDATED: Full Panasonic G5 image leaks….and Telegraph UK leaks info!

Share

One of our trusted sources found plenty of pictures of the new Panasonic G5 which is going to be announced tomorrow along the new 45-150mm lenses leaked yesterday (Click here) and a bunch of new compact cameras (like the new LX7). Also three more websites leaked pieces of info, Telegraph UK (Article has been removed!), Photoprice leaked one single picture of the G5 and Nphoto.

The new G5 has a more rounded shape compared to the G1/[shoplink 14834]G2[/shoplink]/[shoplink 22077]G3[/shoplink] generation. It will share the same G3 sensor but offer a new imaging processor that in theory should increase the image quality.  Expected price for the body is $599. As I told you before the camera will be announced tomorrow (July 18th) at 5am London time!

Follow the event live on 43rumors and on facebook (Click here)! I am going to link you to every interesting news and reviews I can find! See you soon!

UPDATE: Incredible, even the famous Telegraph UK magazine (Article has been removed!) leaked some info! They write:
The new DMC-G5 features a 3-inch fold out screen and a top of the line 16-megapixel sensor powered by Panasonic’s Venus Engine VII.
Also launched is the DMC-LX7 and DMC-FZ200. The former is a top of the line compact camera with a fast f1.4 Leica lens, 10.1 megapixel Mos sensor and 3-inch screen. The DMC-FZ200, which is due for release in late August or early September, replaces Panasonic’s FZ150 as its new flagship bridge camera. Included is a highly formidable 25-600mm lens, which is incredibly wide yet capable of zooming extreme distances. Even more impressive is that the lens on the FZ200 maintains a constant f2.8 aperture throughout.
Panasonic has led the way in the mirrorless market for a while now and the DMC-G5 is its latest attempt at ensuring things stay that way. The G5 is capable of things like full HD video recording and capturing images up to 12,800 ISO. Also announced alongside the G5 was two new lenses, an f2.8 12-35 Power O.I.S and a 45-150mm f4 lens.
It will be released next month with prices starting at £599 and rising to £879.
The LX7 is designed for those who want to get more out of a compact camera, incorporating things like full manual control as well as decent low light photography thanks to the fast lens, Venus VII picture engine and 12,800 ISO capability. The LX7 can also capture full HD 1080p video. The LX7 will be released in September but Panasonic has yet to confirm the price.

Lensrentals says: “The Olympus 75mm f/1.8 is expensive because it’s worth it.”

Share

Image courtesy: Robert Cicala by lensrentals

Now this test is going to push the Olympus 75mm preorders ;)

Robert Cicala from Lensrentals (Click here) just published another kind of Olympus 75mm lens review. He actually disassembled the lens to see what’s inside. He didn’t care a lot about the image quality because…”I won’t repeat what has already been done more thoroughly elsewhere. But I will say the Imatest results are spectacular.

The real question was, how well is the lens made? He writes: “Some people are put off by the price, at least from the discussions I’ve seen online. My perspective is that sometimes things are expensive because they’re worth it. This seems to be one of those times. The build quality is different than the majority of mirrorless lenses. The ones that are built like this are about this price range.

Read the full article at Lensrentals (Click here) to get the nice feeling that Olympus that time did it right and didn’t save a single penny on the lens costs. Full image quality reviews can be seen at DSLRmagazine (Tranlsation here), Robin Wong (part two) , Robin Wong (part one), Pekka Potka and SLRgear.

And now to the preorder options and shipping info:

Zacuto shootout: Francis Ford Coppola votes for the GH2 (and GH2 beats Arri and Sony!)

Share

Image on top: Francis Ford Coppola looking into his top options. And he picks the GH2 :)

Zacuto (Click here) posted the second part of the great Camera Shootout. It worked like that. An audience (including Francis) saw five short movies each made with a different camera, the [shoplink 16254]GH2[/shoplink], Sony F65, Red Epic, Canon C300 and Arri Alexa. The audience had no way to know which movie had been made with a certain camera. At the end they had to pickup their favorite choice. The most voted camera was the Panasonic GH2!

Andrew from EosHD writes: “For digital theatre screenings in 2k or 1080p, extremely high end cameras simply don’t look that much different to the lower end ones. It is therefore the lighting and the skill behind the camera that makes a larger percentage of the difference. As the level of skill involved here behind the camera was all very high, each scene was similar butthe GH2 was still able to overcome the F65 or Epic, mainly because –

A) It was handled better
B) The lighting was most creative
C) The technology inside the GH2 was advanced enough to deliver on this shoot relative to a $70,000 F65

Yep, as I always try to remind you it’s your creative skills that do matter. The camera you use “almost” doesn’t matter anymore! And again, a long hand clap clap clap to all Panasonic engineers for delivering us such a great camera. And we really can’t wait to see what you guys did with the GH3! ;)

P.S.: If you need a great hybrid camera for a low price you may don’t care about the GH3 which will be priced at $1,500. Go for the much cheaper GH2! Price check and search links at [shopcountry 16254].

Reminder: Panasonic announcement on Wednesday July 18th. Follow us live!

Share

For those of you coming back from a weekend of vacation I re-post the leaked image of the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 45-150mm f/4-5.6 HD OIS (leaked via Photoprice). I have no info about the price yet but it will be a very cheap lens. For us 43rumor readers this may not be an interesting lens but I have been told the lens is made for the consumer market and average consumers do love zoom lenses. This is a lens that will be bundled with the new G5 coming out this week.

The G5, the new zoom lens, the LX7 and some more compact cameras are going to be announced on Wednesday (July 18th) at around 6-8 am London time. As usual I will follow the announcement live and give you an easy updated list of all reviews and image samples. The G5 will be a reshaped G3 with same sensor and some new (minor) functionality. My highest attention goes to a non m43 products, the LX7 which is rumored to feature a larger sensor, maybe a 1inch sensor like the super good seller Sony RX100. It may be great alternative of mirrorless system cameras because of the compact size and compact zoom lens. Let’s see.

Oh almost forgot, nope there will be no dead time after that announcement. On July 23th Canon could announce their APS-C mirrorless system, Samsung will announce more stuff and you can follow these rumors and news on MirrorlessRumors.com. And than in exactly one month and one week from now Panasonic and Olympus will announce the new super intriguing and “heavy” m43 stuff. GH3, Pen cameras, prime lenses and more…Stay tuned! And follow us on facebook (Click here).
