The video on top shows a comparison between the newly announced [shoplink 35724 ebay]Jackar 34mm f/1.8[/shoplink]  lens and the [shoplink 14881 ebay]SLR Magic 35mm f/1.7 MC[/shoplink]. Both are certainly not the best lenses for the MFT system but some of you might found them to be a good cheap alternative to other lenses.

The Jackar lens itself can be bought on [shoplink 35724 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink] (found via Slidoo).

Photozone (Click here) published the full Olympus 60mm macro review: “The question of the day is whether to prefer the Olympus M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 ED macro over the Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8 ASPH OIS ? As far as the key aspects is concerned the Leica lens may be a tad sharper whereas the M.Zuiko has a slight edge on the bokeh side. The choice is yours. :-)

[shoplink 34914]

[/shoplink] Dpreview (Click here) just posted the 17mm f/1.8 image samples. Better late than never :)  There is no review yet but they do write: “We haven’t had to opportunity to test the image quality in detail but, while not as sensationally sharp as the 45mm F1.8 and 75mm F1.8 lenses, the 17mm appears to do pretty well and with neither corner sharpness nor distortion showing much to be concerned about.
And also Amazon lens buyers seem to like the lens. The first six user reviews are quite positive (Click here to read them).

March 2012 filed patent GX2 design with integrated EVF.

A March 2012 filed patent (re-)shows the new GX2(?) design with integrated and tillable electronic viewfinder. You can read all details and see the pics at Freepatentsonline. The front linear design reminds a bit the [shoplink 22691 ebay]Panasonic DMC-L1 body (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. Three years ago I found the first patent with that design. I am glad to have found the newer one because it may means that Panasonic is seriously taking into consideration to transform this into a real product.  Another thing I noticed on the patent is that Silver Halide part. May some smart tech guy explain us what it is doing there???

The three year old first patent (Source: Freepatentsonline) explained well why such a cameras makes sense: “If an electronic viewfinder is disposed where a conventional optical viewfinder function component used to be disposed, there needs to be the same amount of space above the body mount as when a pentaprism or the like is disposed, and the various parts cannot be disposed efficiently, which hampers efforts at making the camera body smaller. The technology disclosed here is intended to reduce the size of a camera body.

Do you like that kind of GX design?
