Panasonic GF6 gets DxOmarked.

Share

DxOmark (Click here) posted the full GF6 sensor test. The GF6 scores exactly like the GX1 (that has the same sensor) but it under performs compared to the best Sony and Olympus compacts. DxO writes: “As an entry-level camera the GF6 has some promising features but the imaging performance is sadly lacking, at least when compared with rival offerings adopting much newer and more capable sensors. If sharing (or even remote camera control) using the built-in WiFi feature is high on your list of priorities the GF6 appeals but based on sensor performance alone there are better choices available.”

Panasonic announced two new cameras this year but between the GF6 and the G6 I would definitely go for the latter if you do not care about the bigger camera size. And now let’s  hope Panasonic can catch up with the best mirrorless cameras with the new GX7!

Panasonic G5 is the most sold overall camera at Amazon.

Share

You really don’t see that usually with a Micro Four Thirds camera: Right now the most sold camera at Amazon US is the Panasonic G5 (Click here to see the ranking). This is the overall ranking containing all cameras (compact, DSLR and mirrorless). This happens because of the great G5 double lens kit deal for $437 (Click here to see it).

24hours ago I wrote how bad Mirrorless sales were doing in US and Europe. And we were questioning about the possible reasons for this. We probably need more of this kind of deals to push the sales?

Mirrorless sales in EU and USA doing pretty bad.

Share

Vitaly from Personal View (Click here) analyzed the CIPA data (pdf here). He highlighted in red where the sales shrinked and in green where there was a growth. As you can see oversea sales (means outside Japan) shrinked in all camera segments (from compact camera to DSLR to mirrorless). And mirrorless sales are doing worse than DSLR.

Europe: Almost half of cameras were sold compared to the previous period. While the DSLR sales had a minus 10% only.
USA:  Around 30% less mirrorless cameras sold while DSLR had a negligible 3-4% loss only.

Question: Is the mirrorless hype over? What has to be done to bring mirrorless cameras back to success?
