(FT3) Panasonic compact camera announcement soon (no MFT).

Share

There could be soon a compact camera announcement made by Panasonic. At least one new FZ camera will be launched. As long as I know no new MFT camera is coming The GX7 will be announced in late August (confirmed by Panasonic US!). And the Olympus cameras will arrive in mid September.

In the long term both Panasonci and Olympus will step out from the low end compact camera business and focus on the high end market. The new Panasonic LF1 is a nice camera but Panasonic still has to launch a bigger size sensor camera to be really competitve against Fuji and Sony. Also Olympus plans to launch a high end compact camera soon!

Fotodiox will launch a new Vizelex adapter soon. Higher quality and 0.5x reduction for MFT!

Share

The Vizelex Light Cannon isn’t a good quality adapter. And the Fotodiox company acknowledged that and is preparing a new version. SpilledInk just sent me that message:

“Here are some non-pixel peeping test shots of the cheap and disappointing Fotodiox Vizelex Light Cannon (Lens Turbo clone). The reaction has been so poor that Fotodiox has promised a version 2 in a few months free to anyone that bought the original light cannon. They are even offering a 0.5x reduction version which would give our Micro 4/3 cameras full frame field of view. Hopefully the quality improves: http://www.flickr.com/photos/savanapridi/sets/72157634459659517/ Thanks. I hope your readers might find this test useful.”

More news at personal-view.com. The current adapter sells for $149 at Amazon (Click here).

Nikon G to MFT Speed Booster review. Preorder at BH.

The brand new Nikon G to MFT Speed Booster can now be preordered at BHphoto (Click here). And a review of the new adapter can be read at Peterbphotos (Click here). He writes:

“There seems to be no real image quality issues with using the Speed Booster and for low-light work – a real treat. With DX lenses and the 0.71x magnification of the Speed Booster, you have a lot more wide options for the Olympus system.”

P.S.: A Lens Turbo version should arrive by end of this year. Save this search on Slidoo to get notified when it’s available on eBay.

Selling fine: G5 with double lens kit for $478.

Share

As usual new MFT cameras are expensive to buy. But at least in US you can grab second generation cameras for a ridiculous price. The best selling deal of the moment is the G5 double lens kit at Amazon US (Click here). You pay $478 /and you also get an additional 2% reward).  If you count the price you pay for the single lenses you will get the G5 for  $100 only.

If you watch that mirrorless Amazon ranking (Click here) you will see the discounted G5, E-P3 and E-Pl3 trio are the most sold MFT cameras.

The new GX7 will be priced above $1,000. Wait 16 months and it will be priced less than $500 :)
