GX7 test at DxOmark and CameraLabs

Share

DxOmark (Click here) posted the full GX7 sensor test. And the big question is…will it beat the E-M5 sensor? The answer is…it’s pretty much on par (70 point vs E-m5 71 points). This is DxO’s conclusion:

The Panasonic Lumix GX7 is certainly a compelling model. Not only does it now feature in-body stabilization (that’s compatible with any lens fitted) but it also silences critics of the original GX1 over the lack of an EVF. Couple that with the competitive performance of the new 16-Mpix L-MOS sensor and you have a camera that’s classy, refined and very capable.

But you know, DxO has his own rules for judging the sensor quality. You don’t have to take them as a given absolute truth :)

So you may watch over at our friend Gordon from CameraLabs (Click here). He also posted a full GX7 test:

I certainly can’t say (as others have) that this is the best mirrorless camera, the best Micro Four Thirds camera or even the best Lumix G camera. There’s both pros and cons here so it really boils down to which features are a priority for you personally. It could be the aspects that annoyed me may be non-issues for you in which case it’s a great choice.

The greatest GX7 news of the week is that finally our US readers can get it in Black too at BHphoto (Click here). About time!

(FT5) First images of the new GM1 with 12-32mm lens

Share

Digicameinfo got his hands on the first Panasonic GM1 camera and 12-32mm lens images. Both will be announced on Thursday at around 5-6am London time. Price of the camera+lens kit is 699 Euro! The lens has an f/3.5-5.6 aperture. It reminds me the Fuji XF1 and I have to say it’s a damn good-looking camera!

This is a high quality camera, the GM1 has the GX7 sensor, a magnesium alloy and the lens is all metal! Yep, let’s get rid of all that plastic stuff :)

So here is the question:

Do you like the new GM1?

(FT5) GM1 with 12-32mm lens to cost around $600-700

Share

I just got a price in an Asian currency. Translated in Dollars and Euro the Panasonic GM1 with 12-32mm lens will cost around 600-700 Dollars/Euro. This is a very good price if you consider that the GM1 features the same GX7 sensor, has an LF1 size (smallest MFT camera ever), the 12-32mm is the highest quality standard zoom of all mirrorless systems and at the same time the smallest too. Oh forgot, and it’s a very well built camera!

The Gm1 with 12-32mm is the first mirrorless interchangeable camera with zoom lens that really fits in your pocket! The camera is made to compete against the high end compacts like the Sony RX100MII which do cost $50-150 more than the Gm1 kit.
