(FT1) Impossible rumor? Olympus new Super High End camera to be “teased” at Photokina?

Share

We know Olympus has a 100 year anniversary party to organize before this years end. But our trusted sources told us the E-M5III is not going to be launched this year. So what could possibly be announced?

I got one rumor from two different but also “new” sources. Being new sources there is still a good chance their info is NOT reliable. So please take it with a grain of salt.  Still, I hope it is as it sounds highly intruiging. The sources wrote:

Source 1:
Soon a new camera will be announced by Olympus: sept 2018 – release in 2019.

Camera will be positioned above current E-M1 mark II.
Specs are not revealed yet, but got this information from Olympus.

Source 2:
Olympus will be adding a big item camera to their OM-D lineup in 2019 for their anniversary.
Very expensive and built to outshine all current models.

I give it a 20% chance that Olympus will indeed tease us a launch of a new high end camera. Something like Panasonic did with the GH5 two years ago. What also makes this rumor sound nearly impossible is that the camera will be placed above the E-M1II. Can’t think of a reason this makes actually sense unlike this is NOT a MFT camera…
