The new Olympus roadmap actually teases the launch of a new f/1.0 or faster lens lineup?

The new roadmap contains a small info that should make everyone very excited.it contains a stripe named “Bright Prime Lenses”. At first I misinterpreted it and thought this was meant as a single lens. But at second look I realized Olympus is talking about multiple lenses. The question arises…why did they use the plural?

My guess is that they actually teased the launch of a new super fast prime lens series. Could be f/1.0 or even faster?

Olympus interview on DC.watch: E-M1X and E-M1II are two separate camera lines

DC.watch reported about the Olympus Japan press event. A couple of notes:

– The E-M1X is not the E-M1II successor. The E-M1 line will continue independently from the E-M1X line.
– Also the E-M5 and E-M10 line will continue
– Olympus repeated their focus on MFT because of the flexibility and mobility advantage

DC.watch also posted this video showing the impressive new stabilization system:

Olympus Japan confirms the PEN-F has been discontinued

And today also Olympus Japan confirmed the PEN-F has been discontinued. I repeat it once more that I have heard of NO PEN-F II coming any time soon. And if you read on other rumors sites that a PEN-FII has been registered this is a a FAKE news as the registration has only been made to extend the rights on the current PEN-F model.

The fact that we are seeing the PEN-F discontinued before a new model has been announced make me worry a lot for the future of the PEN-F. I have heard from reliable sources that PEN-F sales did not meet the expected sales target…

Reminder: Don’t trust the other “rumor sites” saying a new Olympus PEN-F camera has been registered. Explanation WHY there is no new PEN-F camera registration:
1) You don’t trust us? Look at 100% reliable Nokishita that did not report this registration because there is NO NEW PEN-F registration!
2) The current PEN-F registration would have expired in January that’s why they made a new registration (with new PLG ID number) to extend it.
3) Olympus registers NEW cameras with “IMxxx” code as usual!

The Olympus PEN-F has been marked as “discontinued” at Mapcamera and Yodobashi

The Japanese store Mapcamera and Yodobashi marked the PEN-F as discontinued. Other Japanese sources confirmed that Olympus informed them that the PEN-F is now out of production. From our sources we know that a new PEN-F II will not be announced soon. It will take some time until a new version will be on market.
