Panasonic is the prospect of the 2022 year, which will be held the Beijing Olympic Winter Games and Paralympic, and ultra-high-definition 8K video, and for the business consumer for a digital camera with a slow-motion playback function of the high-definition 4K (consumer) throw into. Digital cameras are popular for smartphones in consumer applications, and for Chinese manufacturers such as surveillance cameras …

(FT3) Olympus E-M5III uses same E-M1II sensor

If you were hoping the E-M5III would get a new sensor your hopes were misplaced. I am still not 100% sure but I have been told the new E-M5III will use the same E-M1II sensor with 121 cross-type phase detection pixels.

Still, I expect Image Quality and Autofocus to improve over the E-M1II due to the new processor…

Image on top shows the current E-M5II model

those of you hoping to get the new PEN-FII should rest in peace….Olympus plans no successor model because the first generation PEN-F didn’t meet the sales goal :(

(FT2) Early (unreliable) info about the new Panasonc GH6?

An anonymous source shared the following new information about the GH6:

– There seem to be discussion that next GH will have a Super 35 sensor (full size to be enabled by key),
– higher resolution
– special pixel binning algorithm for low light applications
– Dual ISO

Now, this isn’t from a reliable source so it might be wrong…still hope the GH6 will be announced this autumn!

Olympus 2019 financial report released: Imaging segment with -19% revenue and 17,1 billion YEN loss….but forecast is still optimistic!

Olympus released the full 2019 fiscal year report. And while the company as a whole did well the Imaging Segment suffered some severe losses:

-19% revenue and 17,1 bilion YEN loss

But there is a big one time cost included in these losses which should bring some benefits in the next year: The production has been moved from China to Vietnam. That’s why the 2020 forecast is rather positive. For the fiscal year 2020 Olympus expects:

“Breakeven to be achieved in the latter half of FY2020 due to production transfer to Vietnam and the launch of new products”

See the Imaging forecast here:

And this is the forecast for the full company:

Indeed those are not good results, but the company seems to be confident they can do a lot better this year! Now bring on the new E-M5III and other new MFT cameras and lenses :)
