We are going to see both cameras this year, the LX4 and the compact MFT from Panasonic. And now it seems the LX4 is going to be announced first. There is a fair chance that Panasonic will announce the LX4 soon. How soon? Maybe in the next 1-2 weeks!

LX4 uses backside ilumination
LiveMOS 1/1.3 inch
and summicron lens (no interchangeable lens!)

Question: How big is a 1/1.3 inch sensor compares the 1/1.6 inch sensor?

In less than two weeks Panasonic will make some announcements.
There is a 50% chance that they will show us the LX4 (with bigger sensor and non interchangeable lenses)
There is 40% chance that they will pre-announce the next compact M4/3 camera ((with EVF and no in Body IS)
There is 10% chance that both will happen (LX4 and MFT pre-announce)

That’s what 43rumors believes after a smalltalk with all sources.

P.S.: Sorry for the little confusion. At least you know that something BIG from Panasonic should be announced soon. The summer isn’t that boring now …for Panasonic folks ;)

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
I had a talk with all sources and that’s what I can say for now:
(FT4) Panasonic will announce “something” early August.
(FT2) On Q4 you can buy the compact Panasonic MicroFourThirds camera

But is the MFT camera going to be announced in August or something else? We are checking it.

What we know about the Panasonic MFT camera:
(FT4) The Panasonic compact camera is as tiny as the and very similar in his function. A second source reports that it is thinner (may because of the lack of inbody IS). And it will come with the 20mm f/1.7 lens!

(FT3) Look at the image below. This is an image of the Panasonic LC1. There is something you miss in the E-P1 and the Panasonic G(?) will have. The EVF on the right!

UPDTAE: It is a Panasonic rumor…

Woke up this morning with following rumor in my gmail:
“I can’t tell you my name, but I can tell you the next panasonic m43 will be announced in the first week of september. It looks a bit like a Olympus PEN, but it is a little less heavy. Functions are like the GH-1”

The source is new and I ask him if it is possible to contact him in any form (may you can make a new gmail account). I need to ask you something :)
