Just received this:

Fujifilm is moving to M4/3rds with a new body that will have an EXR sensor inside it. The official announcement about Fuji’s joining to the M4/3 system will be made a few weeks before the camera announcement itself next PMA season (Jan/Feb 2010).

The new camera body –tentatively named: Micro-S10EXR (MS10), will have a 4/3rd 12MP EXR sensor, that shares a lot of its technologies and modes with current Fuji EXR compacts, just in a much larger sensor area and pixel size. The MS10 will be intermediate in form factor between the and the . It will have sensor shift stabilization, a substantial hand grip, tilt & swivel (similar in design to D5000), and a built-in EVF that is more akin to the EVF’s of Fuji compacts than to that of the GH1. The entire body is made by Fuji or designed for them specially to fit the MS10 (ie nothing is cloned from any of the current M4/3 bodies except for the mount & standards of course). For lenses however, the MS10 will have to use any of the available lens options for M4/3. The camera will be marketed with EXR sensor as its main selling point.

weeks ago Mr. Akira Watanabe said this:
Journalist: On the possible involvement of Fujifilm, which has signed the launch of System 4 / 3, but has nothing concrete in terms of equipment, and its sensor division, which produces SuperCDD more innovative than sensors fitted Panasonic Olympus equipment.

Watanabe: Olympus can not say anything about its commitments with its official or unofficial subject to confidentiality agreement that it is impossible to break.
Sounds like Fuji will definitely join us! ;)

UPDATE:

Also Sony, Nikon, Ricoh, Samsung and Pentax are working on a mirrorless camera system. But they will all have their own mount (no MicroFourThirds)
UPDATE2: Also photorumors received the same email from the same source ;)

(FT4) Next Panasonic cameras or lenses early 2010

panasonic_roadmap_2010
This rumor has been confrimed from many of our sources. Panasonic is not going to release any new MicroFourThirds product in 2009. (They already have done a good job this year!). Maybe a new camera and 1-2 new lenses are expected to be unveiled early 2010 (in February?).

And one more thing, other two sources confirmed us that in 2010 Panasonic will announce more MicroFourThirds lenses than Panasonic showed us on the roadmap!!!

Not only the 100-300mm f/4-5.6 OIS, 8mm f/3.5 fisheye and 14mm f2.8. Some Leica branded Panasonic lenses are expected to be announced during next year!

(FT4) Olympus working on in camera HDR features?

J.W. has taken a deep look on new Olympus patents at http://appft.uspto.gov/. J.W. found at leats 10 Olympus patents having to do with HDR processing. Some of them are software based HDR solutions and some of them sensor based HDR patents (which sounds really interesting). Panasonic developed a similar sensor based solution (read more here: https://43rumors.com/missing-panasonicsensor/) .

J.W. writes “The sensor based solutions have everything from an ISO HDR form, to two seperated timed redouts from the sensor, to two and I belive 3 types/size/sensivity pixel arangements. Obviously they are working very diligently on increaseing the DR of the imaging sensors.” What sounds really interesting is J.W.’s next statement “They are not apparently just relying on “kodak” promises of future sensors anymore.“. I asked him…What? Olympus had/have the idea to implement Kodak sensor on future cameras? His answer: “As for the Kodak comment, that was based on the rumored promises by Kodak to Olympus on the future sensor developments. Promises that the sensor tech would be advance fast enough that ccd 4/3 sensors would be just as good as the larger format cmos in a couple years. Also afaik from previos Olympus statments they are not tied to Pani for sensors, they tested several brand sensors for the E-3 body.” Remember that’s just rumors nothing else! We really don’t know if Olympus will implement such features in future cameras but we really like the idea the rumor could one day become true!
