Marché (video embedded on top): “I’m a young cinematography student living in France. I would like to share with you one of my latest videos. I’m working with a hacked GH2, after having worked with a GF1 before. Be first I’d like to thank you since 43Rumors is terrific when one wants to be ahead of all the advertising campaigns and be able to choose wisely which gear to buy. I’ve been shooting this video with a very poor quality lens : a Makinon mirror 300mm, showing even less contrast than a typical mirror lens. To me that’s due to the heavy dust laying on it. On one hand I’ve set my camera to dynamic mode with a +2 contrast setting. And on another hand I shot at a time when I could have a direct sun lighting the buildings, to a get a little more contrast. That’s part of some experimental shots I edited together in order to create a music video for my collective named “Marché Noir”. To me the result is kind of a “atmosphere” video. I also used a 20mm Lumix and a 135mm DSB Yashica lens at the end. The website : http://marchenoir.eu/“

No surprise: Epson officially says E-M1 uses own Ultimicron EVF tech.

We were already certain the E-M1 uses an Epson EVF. Anyway, now it’s official. Epson issued a press release saying the Olympus E-M1 is using their Ultimicron EVF with 2.36 million dot resolution:

Sony A7 announced. The FF OMD for the masses?

And now it’s here! Someone called it the Full Frame OMD, or the Full Frame for the masses. I am talking about the Sony A7 (or A7r) that it’s now available at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here). You judge from the image on top if the OMD and A7 are really close. The one thing that is cool on the A7-A7r is that you can fit MFT lenses in crop mode by using that [shoplink 42338 ebay]Fotodiox MFT to NEX adapter (Click here)[/shoplink]!

Here are some OMD vs A7 info:
– The A7-A7r advantages are: Higher MP count, larger FF sensor, Better High ISO, A7 body for $1700 only.
– The OMD advantages are: way faster AF, smaller lenses, 5 axis stabilization that works on all lenses, much better weather sealing and almost half the price.

So why is the Sony announcement that important?
1) FF never was as cheap as now and challenges the high end APS-C MFT models
2) Sony-Olympus partnership lead to have a close A7-OMD design, and same EVF. And 5 axis IBIS will be used in some future Sony models too
3) I am curious to see if Olympus will go FF too (would be easy now that they have access to Sony sensors).
4) Eventually Olympus could make some lenses for the E-mount FF.

New Ultralight Panohead for panorama photography
