Olympus PRO 7-14mm shipping delayed til late August!

GetOlympus (Click here) reports a new shipping date for the new 7-14mm PRO lens. It will now be available in late August only! Amazon US still says shipment starts on August 1 but I think they will change this soon too. I don’t know what’s the reason behind the new one month delay.

One more news: The lens got reviewed at ePhotozine:

Given the ‘Pro’ moniker assigned to this lens, expectations of its build and performance should be high. During testing this lens proved itself worthy, by delivering images with outstanding sharpness, whilst handling well and sporting a robust dust and moisture resistant construction. The lens may be a little prone to flare, but given the extreme angle of view on offer and the compact size of the lens, this flaw may be something many will be able to forgive, or even forget.

Olympus Preorders:

Additional notes to the Schneider decision to not make MFT lenses.

schneider

Schneider stated at Photoscala that the MFT sales on the worldwide market are dropping. And therefore it makes little sense for them to make lenses. But I think you don’t have to read too much into it because at the same time they also said they are considering to not make the FF lenses for Nikon and Canon they presented back at Photokina. I guess they simply saw little chance for them in the overall photo camera lens market. This is not a special MFT market problem.

Konrad:I’ve recently discovered that Olympus cameras (including 4/3) embed a certain type of information in metadata. I thought it might be interesting for your readers to know.

It’s official: Schneider changes his mind and will not make any MFT lenses!

schneider

It’s official! Photoscala reports that Schneider withdraw the plan they had to release the three MFT lenses in 2015. So we will NEVER get those lenses! Actually the decision has not to do with a change regarding their specific Micro Four Thirds strategy. The company completely changed their focus. They will now move away from the classic Photo Lens market! They will stay in the market for Large Format lenses for Linhof, Alpa and Cambo and develop lenses for the Industrial and Cine market.

That’s bad news althaugh….Schneiders proposed MFT focal length lenses are already available within the Panasonic/Olympus lens repertoire.

Blkphoto:I bought a Rode NTG 4+ the other day and wanted to test it out and see how it performs so I put it on a boom and hooked it up to my Tascam DR-70D and filmed with my Panasonic GH4. I recorded the audio separately and also sent the audio straight to the camera. I switch back and forth between the different audio sources and labeled them so you know what you are listening to. I leveled everything out to about -12db and peaking at about -6db. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDPDyJf32Jk
