It doesn’t happen often that I find super deals in Europe. Those kind of huge price drops I usually find in US stores. This one is really strange. While the normal E-M5 body price in Europe is around 1100 Euro (see Amazon Germany) you can get crazy low prices in one country only….Italy! There is now a 300 Euro price drop on Pixmania Italy (Click here). I checked and there is o such deals on the other Pixmania Europe stores. Today eleven(!) new cameras have been announced. But it is the GH3 that leads the (pre)order ranking at Amazon (Click here). It even beats the “cheap” FF camera…the Canon 6D. On the lens front the most preordered new m43 lens is the Olympus 60mm macro (here is the lens ranking).

I hope the upcoming 17mm f/1.8 lens will not take so long before to ship like it happened with the great 75mm lens. At least we Europeans can finally find the lens in Stock (the lens was first displayed in February!). Rainbowimaging is now selling a cheap alternative at Amazon US (Click here) which they say 100% replace the original Olympus LH-61F (Click here). If you click the two links and than compare the images of the hoods you wills ee that they are pretty much identical! The lens itself is in Stock via third party resellers on Amazon (with a not so nice $200 extra to pay).
Wlcastleman (Click here) posted a full review of the lens: “It is difficult to write about this lens without using superlatives. It is incredibly sharp wide open across the image field and produces very high quality bokeh with evenly illuminated out of focus specular light. It can be shot wide open in portrait applications to produce sharply focused subjects and excellent background blurring.”
