Working on both Olympus and Panasonic rumors (thanks for all rumors you sent to me).
It’s pretty busy here in the rumors world. I received dozens of rumors from new sources and I want to thank them all! As you can imagine I have to cross check all rumors with my reliable sources.
There are two things I have to keep in mind when I work with rumors:
1) I know the big companies often do spread false rumors
2) Sources can intentionally or unintentionally share some wrong information. Also trusted sources gave me (unintentionally) wrong rumors in the past!
There are a couple of things I am working on:
1) The Panasonic GF camera specs.
I also got a rumor from new sources about a second GF camera which will be announced in a couple of months.
2) The Panasonic 25mm f/1.4
I am trying to find out the price of the lens (hope it’s not over $700)
3) The new Olympus PEN camera(s)
So will there be one or two new PEN cameras in June? Got some more rumors from new sources and I can only say the answer seems to be more YES for teo PEN models
4) The new Olympus lenses
While most of the sources are pretty sure the 12mm 2.0 lens is coming there is some conflicting report about the second portrait lens. I have been told Olympus had a couple of different options. This might be the cause of the conflict.
Anyway, all that stuff is coming in June! You can expect me to post FT4 FT5 rumors at any time! Stay tuned

2 years ago |Well, for Olympus new pen : the answer is more Yes than No for One or for Two ?

2 years ago |Damn to me! I updated the post. YES for TWO PEN Cameras

2 years ago |For Olympus, we talk about, E-P3 and E-PL3?
admin
2 years ago |One camera could be the E-P3 but I am not sure we could define the other camera as the E-PL3. Sounds like a completely new kind of camera…

2 years ago |Couldn’t really care less about what they decide to call it if they just finally fill that huge gaping hole below E-5 in their product range.

2 years ago |Yeah, we’re still reeling over the 0.5x SWD OM converter that never materialized. It was an awesome idea, not sure how that rumor started, and if it HAD happened it would have saved Olympus, but alas and alack, it was apparently not to be.
It’s a shame, because it was the ONLY innovative idea I’ve heard from them in two years. It would have prevented me from buying the D7000 and would have sold me instead on continuing with micro four thirds.
Kept my stuff, still hoping something will come of it, still love my E-30 and take it out regularly, but damn are unsubstantiated rumors disappointing.

2 years ago |just be happy with the gear you have, i mean, you seem to prefer dslr for now. innovative ideas are few and rare anyway, and i think Olympus had their share already, now let the others come up with something. I just hope the PEN will develop further while keeping its original design, especially the ep-x sries

2 years ago |Something about the 10 year anniversary of Lumix, and the Panasonic Leica 25mm 1.4. My guess is a special edition rangefinder maybe a joint effort with Leica ? That would be something, a Micro43 X100 killer.
MJ
2 years ago |My guess is Leica doesn’t want to kill its own marked with a camera like that. But lenses, sure.

2 years ago |So, after wanting the “top left” EVF for so long (trying to not use the RF word!), we’ll get two at once, I bet. The company that gets the little details right will get my money, otherwise I’ll buy that 12mm….

-Is the second “new” Olympus model above, or below, the EP-3?
-When you say “second” GF, you mean, one in June, AND another in August (Special Ed. maybe)? Thanks.

2 years ago |Keep the primes coming, yeah! Bodies come and go, its lenses that stay. I’d rather wait a bit longer and have some *real* new bodies than warmed up versions (GF2, E-PLx anyone?).
Boooo!
2 years ago |4/3 lenses don’t seem to have much staying power
Inge-M
2 years ago |You mean, camera body by new sensor. I think E-P3 come by 16 mp. sensor, but if other camera is low end neden E-PL2 will the have old 12 mp. sensor.
Jaap
2 years ago |What will be the effect of 16mp crammed in a micro four thirds sensor on the noise performance?
I sure hope the new pro PEN will come with a prime instead of zoom lens. Or body only.

2 years ago |Are the ‘conflicting reports about the second portrait lens’ and the ‘options’ between different portrait lenses, or a portrait lens and some other kinds of lenses?
Because if they don’t release a decent portrait lens very soon, I’m going to start spending on old manual lenses. I was considering just buying the 40-150mm, but I would feel like I’m just ‘settling’ for it, and giving up.
And let’s just hope it’s not just something similar to the new Panasonic/Leica 25mm f/1.4, cause I’m sick of Olympus just producing the same stuff as Panasonic.
Olympus are meant to have a reputation for outstanding lenses (the reason I went with them in the first place), but Panasonic have been kicking their butt (particularly with the primes).
And let’s face it, Olympus is going to start (or may have already) losing customers if they don’t produce something outstanding very soon.
