Why you should become a 43rumors member…
Dear readers!
I invite you to become 43rumors member because of the following reasons:
1) To avoid spamming I usually have to allow your comments manually. That’s why sometimes you don’t see you comment displayed for many hours. But once you become a 43rumors member every comment you post will be instantly displayed!
2) Within the next 2 weeks I will install a complete new camera/lens user review system. Every registered user will be able to rate the product displayed inside the camera database (on the top of the website). See the examples at SLRgear or Dpreview. There will be 5 rating categories:
- body/lens quality
- usability
- features
- image quality
- price
You rate the product for every category and you can add a comment with links to your work. Readers will be able to comment your review and/or send you private messages on 43rumors. If you have more (or better) ideas feel free to contact me!
3) Within 1 month I will add the ability for every member to post images or link to their own flickr and youtube pages. That will make it easy for every 43rumors reader to see your work!
Reaminder: 43rumors runs on Buddypress. It’s still not a very mature software but it has a huge potential.

admin: where are the new camera/lens rumors?
admin
2 years ago |Hi Li!
Checking them with other sources right now. I want to be sure to not make mistakes…

2 years ago |That’s how most big blogs start to die: they lose focus by trying to be more than a blog. It happens. You know, that’s how life is: born, grow, reproduce, die. Blogs are not different.
I’m not saying that you shouldn’t add features, only that you should be careful and not let them to take over the blog. Please, please, don’t try to make this a more social blog because… why does every website have to be social these days?
Most of us come here for rumors (and only rumors), and don’t even bother to comment (really, how many of your visits leave a comment? 0.1%) let alone add content or interact with strangers we know nothing about.

2 years ago |Hi Manolito!
Maybe you are right maybe you are not. But those new features will never become the MAIN part/goal/feature of that website. It is just a little help for visitors that need more info about cameras. I reinvested the earnings from that website to pay a developer that will make the user review system from scratch. I will not spend my time on that…becuase I already have no time left
Bye

2 years ago |Any developments on the comment flat view? With the amount of comments some posts have, it’s really hard to follow…
admin
2 years ago |Is already working! Look on top-right of the first comment!

How long has it been there?
You should really announce it in a post though. I totally missed it!

….didnt stop me just signing up to 43rumors though just now.
I think 43rumors will be okay as long as the rumors and news stories remain the main focus.

That doesn’t seem to work. Even as a signed in user the comment still goes to a moderation queue. Just a hint.
admin
2 years ago |Hmmm, weird. I will ask the developer to look into that.

2 years ago |Will registration now be required to post comments? And if so, when? (Also, it would be nice if the system allowed for capital letters in the Name as the current comment system allows)
admin
2 years ago |No, not required!

2 years ago |Dear Admin,
Please check for me why my e-mail address is already in use when trying to create a 43rumors account. Possibly I’d made already an account before?
admin
2 years ago |Yes you already made an account!
kesztió
2 years ago |And how can I access it? May you send at least the login name by mail? It should be kesztio or kesztió, but neither of these works!

2 years ago |Same with me. I made an account long time ago, but never got the (promised) confirmation e-mail. Now, the system says the username is taken, while my password doesn’t work. I’ve given up for now …

Autofocus is currently the Achilles’ Heel of mirrorless cameras and in fact, i’d say it’s the biggest issue with Olympus m4/3 cameras, IMHO. Also, in practice, AF performance is a big differentiator between competing models, but it is rarely tested and reported on explicitly in most reviews compared to the extensive pixel peeping that is done to evaluate image quality.
If you think back to the E-P1 vs GF1 debates, the biggest issue was how much worse the AF was on the E-P1, and does the IBIS of the E-P1 outweigh the mediocre AF performance.
IMHO, it needs to have its own category. It’s that important.
