11 months ago |The new Oly flash is out, and the 12mm is set to ship next week.
Meanwhile, no word on the PL25 that I pre-ordered about a month ago.
Panny doesn’t have a supply chain. They have an un-supply chain.

11 months ago |If you really want, you can buy G3 now from at least 3–4 stores in US directly, normal price, w/o preordering and from dozen of stores in Europe. So things are far not as bad as it were with the GH2.

11 months ago |I wouldn’t feel so sorry for the excellent G3. Just take a look at the most recent BCN sales ranking of DSLRs in Japan dated July 11th and you will see that the G3 is doing quite well indeed even with a price level of $886 for body only and up to $1490 for two lens kit or comanding a higher price than even the GH2 or EP3 for now! There are already 4 G3 models in the top 80 models inspite of firesales on the G2 models. It has been so successful that the GH2 has dropped out of top 80 models and reportedly Pany has ceased production for now of that model to concentrate on other models like the G3.
Given the above facts I find it very strange that Pany would start discounting the G3 price so soon in the US as they can sell for many hundreds of dollars more elsewhere in the world? I suspect under the circumstances we will find very restricted supply to US for some time to come unfortunately.

11 months ago |I was just being silly because the headline had a typo and it said “G3 disocunted”.
I think the G3 is a great cam, and should help Panasonic and m4/3s alot.

11 months ago |Admin, do you know if the black square on this flash is an infrared sensor?
Also, on my FL-36R connected to EPL-2, I cannot figure out how to get the infrared to turn on, and I know it worked on E-620, any help would be appreciated…..
Jeff
11 months ago |if you’re talking about the IR focus assist, it doesn’t work with any of the m4/3 cameras to my knowledge. I have the same flash and the P1. It was only for the phase detect AF system and basically useless for the Contrast system in the m4/3 cameras, although if that earlier rumor was true about the new sensors using IR to autofocus, I could see how that could help the new focusing system, so who knows?
Jason
11 months ago |Thank you for commenting @Jeff I was wondering why it didn’t work.
What about the new built for MFT FL-300R flash, does that have an infrared sensor on it?

11 months ago |I do not like the new flashes!
EPL3 and EPM1 should have built in flash.
Kit flashes are too bulky and have no bounce.
New FL-300R has no Super FP. Older flashes are too big and heavy.
Olympus has missed the mark yet again and we’ll have to wait years for a correction. They will probably let Sony beat them to the punch yet again.
At least the new lenses are good.

11 months ago |The FL-300R doesn’t act as a wireless flash controller, yet Olympus has built two cameras that don’t have wireless flash control, yet again. It’s silly and I think it would be inaccurate or simply late to say that Olympus has lost its way- that happened when the E-P1 was built without flash. Does the other micro four thirds flash act as a wireless TTL controller?
Agent00soul
11 months ago |Doesn’t the enclosed mini-flash work as a wireless controller on the new cameras? I thought that was why it connects to the acessory port, in addition to the hotshoe.
