If anyone is still having a problem acquiring the GH2, here’s a little tip that might help you grab the next one that arrives in stock. Try to get in the habit of checking multiple times a day every day. I bookmarked the product page on my phone and made myself check 4 times a day and that is how I was finally able to grab one last week. Additionally, I would check to see if maybe you could subscribe to the product page through RSS so maybe you’ll receive live updates when they get new cameras in stock.

Pleased you have your order – but it’s a bit more complicated than us simply filling orders without advertising that we have a camera in stock!

When an item is heavily back-ordered, (which happens with new releases often because we don’t charge until an order actually ships), as soon as we receive a delivery all the back-orders will be filled first. As you noted, we operate a very strict procedure which ensures that orders are fulfilled in the order in which they are received.

If, for example, we have 300 delivered, and 295 pre-orders, there are actually only 5 available for sale.
We could receive 50 orders within the space of a couple of minutes (from the ‘phones, the website, from our partners such as Amazon and buy.com).
When the 295th unit is picked from the shelf, the next 5 orders that came in (and there is no way that this can be over-ridden) will be picked and allocated in strict order of receipt. And in a split-second, we are out of stock, again!
