4 months ago |I have one of his adaptors, they are pretty decent, and extremely light. Fits on the end of my 12-50mm Oly zoom. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mjones41/sets/72157632592370798/

4 months ago |If you shoot this adaptor on standard 4:3 (full size micro four thirds sensor) you can get 16:9 without cropping or losing any resolution. If you shoot it on 16:9 aspect you can get cinemascope 2.66:1 without additional cropping or loss of resolution. On the fully coated models you get very little flare. If flare is desirable you can go for blue or gold, films like Blade Runner use this to great effect.
His adaptors sell for around $300-$400 which is extremely good value considering the quality. Most Anamorphic adaptors are well above $1K and are second hand. Anyone making videos on a GH2 will understand the benefit of such an adaptor.

4 months ago |wow, 2.66:1 is extremely wide, but for display on a lcd tv not really practical, i mean the only few cinemascope ratio tv’s around like the philips cinema line (which is 2:35 if i remember correctly). Ofcourse there is still the option to use projectors.

4 months ago |I watched the video, still I’m missing the purpose of this adaptor: can someone please explain? (I’m not trolling, just curious)

4 months ago |Anamorphic adapters basically are like wide angle adapters, but extend the viewing angle only on the horizontal axis. They are used to make widescreen (wider than just 16:9, which isn’t really cinema, but more like cable TV) movies. With the adapter, you can capture a wider view – unlike just cropping away the top and bottom parts of a 16:9 picture, for example. The footage has to be spread for playback. In the analog age that was done by an anamorphic lens on the projector, nowadays it is stretched in post processing.

4 months ago |There must be cheaper and already existing ways to get horizontal flare like this. Or am I missing what this is actually intended for?

4 months ago |I once ordered a 35mm adapter of this guy (in 2007) it was complete CRAP. the vibration (instead of rotation) of the milky screen was caused by a weight, its rotation was driven by a motor.. well, this weight was a little ball made of FIMO, that came off after using it for 5 minutes. the whole construction consisted of parts found in some favelas and 50% black tape.. tinkered rubbish
after months he returned some of my money but never returned the complete amount I paid.

4 months ago |Sweet Jesus, I think i’d get rid of that vimeo if I were trying to sell this thing, the flare is excruciating… and get rid of 3/4 of the ebay listing.
We’re not exactly dealing with Leica here, are we/

4 months ago |Copyrights are different from manufacturing rights. Checking the eBay auction listing it does not mention any patents or patent applications pending, by the way.
