Two more new Olympus VF-3 viewfinder reviews.
ThePhoBlographer (Click here) tested the new Olympus VF-3 viewfinder: “At the price point, you’re really much better off going for the VF-2 for the quality. However, when it comes to ergonomical advantages, the VF-3 is the way to go, especially for the locking feature. With this said, the VF-3[/shoplink] is still quite good in terms of build quality and image quality, but if you’re a photographer that loves to shoot full frame, you’ll appreciate the VF-2′s brightness much more in a similar way to Full Frame vs APS-C DSLRs.”
Also the german blog Pen and Tell (google translated) wrote a VF-2 versus VF-3 comparison.

2 years ago |this test is rather confusing, thephoblographer said that vf2 is more brighter tnan vf3 but the German blog said that the brightness is identical… so? I guess we can only compare them if we try them ourselves.

2 years ago |Damn how ugly a camera can look with that thing on top. Olympus, get yourself together now!
Ulli
2 years ago |that ugly thing’s purpose is to focus extremely precise with mf lenses, not to win a beauty contest.

2 years ago |So you mean it’s not possible to manually focus with a built in viewfinder?

They should’ve updated the VF-2 with a lock mechanism and introduce a higher end VF-3, not a downgrade that isn’t much cheaper than the VF-2.

2 years ago |They should at least have one camera with an viewfinder built in. They will lose customers.
Anonymous
2 years ago |all actual customers have decided to go without internal viewfinder already – so I doubt they will lose any.
sure, they will miss out on some new sales.
sure I’d prefer to have a viewfinder, but I dont miss it half as much as I thought I would.

What for, Simon? Currently, they haven’t got a camera with a hotshoe.

2 years ago |Had the chance of testing both extensively before I purchased my E-PL3, last Saturday. In medium and worsel light, the VF2 is worlds better than the VF3. But yes, I’d loved the VF2 to have been upgraded with a lock mechanism.
Nonetheless, with a price difference of just €10 (VF2: €189, VF3: €179), the decision was easy.

Should have been smaller, simpler and cheaper.

I sincerely hope someone at Panny and Oly is paying attention.

2 years ago |I heard some news about the vf-3 + e-pl1 combo . Some users report some really bad colors on the VF-3 with the e-pl1 .
Someone has some news about this problem ?
I really want to have a lock system on my viewfinder so my choice would be the VF-3 … that is before i heard about this problem …
May be a simple bug … i hope .
