Wow, Thom Hogan is possibly the most boring writer I have ever read. I normally could care less about such things, but he just goes on an on in annoying disjointed sentences, and in the end only delivers about a paragraph of actual information.
Could care less? If you don’t care about something, you couldN’T care less. Basic logic. But I agree with the sentiment – Thom’s grammatical errors are often quite frightening and I expect he too would use the silly Americanism you used.
I must admit, i enjoyed his review too and 100% agree with him about the view of the back of the Pen. IMHO the rear does appear like a missmatch of parts and does not carry through the clean design of the front of the camer.
Thom Hogan is the dullest windbag on the internet – and by some margin! His ability to ‘communicate’ in 500 words what a competent writer would say in 50 is unrivaled.
As a camera enthusiast (Nikon DSLR) I try to stay up to date with products and reviews. At first I found Hogan’s site a valuable resource, but not these days. It’s not just the fact he goes on and on. He’s a bad writer for a whole list of reasons. And the list goes on and on! For instance: the lack of rhythm; the poor grammar; the lack of effective humour; the tone… In the end I just found him unreadable.
Suffice to say I’ve long since deleted his bookmark, and I don’t feel I’m missing anything important.
Oh – and his photography is at best utterly pedestrian. Neither his writing nor his photography in anyway do justice to his ‘mentor’ (snigger) Galen Rowell.
