The GF2 is not the “linear” GF1 successor (says Luminous Landscape)
Luminous Landscape (“LL”) posted the new Panasonic GF2 hands-on: “Whatever the GF2 may be (and I’ll tell you in a moment what ecological niche I think it is intended to occupy) it is not a linear successor to the GF1.” and “Which brings us to the question of how does the GF2 handle and how does it compare to the GF1? Frankly, for myself (and yes, I own a GF1) the GF2 is a disappointment. I like cameras with manual controls.” but “Panasonic has shown that a small camera can have a usable interface, even when it might not appeal to photographers like me that prefer traditional tactile controls.”
P.S.: LL should ask Panasonic why Japan will have the GF in Stock on December 3 and the rest of the world by end of January. And where is the GH2? Should we start to learn japanese just to buy those nice japanese GH2 cameras you can find on eBay?

2 years ago |In March 2011, that’s when GF1 will be 18 months old
. Panasonic has a 18 month product announcement cycle. So expect GF3 in March and G3 & G20 in September.

It must be remembered that all Japanese G series Panasonics have Japanese ONLY menu. And of the current models, only the GF1 & the GH1 can be hacked to change it to a different language(GF1 & GH1 build dates May 2010 and before)

2 years ago |I believe I have learnt the thing about ‘myself’. Released date and camera available date are totally 2 different thing. If GF3 to be release on Feb2011, then it could be a compete model to its rival Nex7. and you able to get that camera a year later in other regions :p or we should start to learn japanese now on…

Tropical Yeti
2 years ago |Frankly, in my opinion this MR guy from LL is grossly overhyped.
Obviously buying tons of cameras he happens to like, and bashing others he doesn’t like, posting his casual shots on his website and calling them “fine art”, is childish at least. Occasionaly something interesting can be found on his pages though.
He is sort of Paris Hilton of camera world in my opinion (but obviously he has his loyal fanbase).
In case of GF-2, he just says what is buzzing around the net since camera has been made public.

2 years ago |Yeti, go back to nepal,
seriously, there is nothing wrong with his reviews, so there are cameras he likes and there are cameras he dosnt? thats wrong?
The “casual” shots are still better then most of the review sites and describing LL as “Paris Hilton” is the farthest thing you can say

2 years ago |Well, it’s about time for me to return to Nepal. I prefer being frostbitten, than being “bitten by frosti7″.
If you need MR to tell you what is common knowledge these days, to believe it – it’s your right.
Please note, I have used “in my opinion” in every claim, I have put in my previous post.

2 years ago |I still wonder, why he recommends the GF2 over the GF1 to somebody who is at the moment considering to buy a camera like this (like me).
The GF1′s price will likely drop towards the release date of the GF2. The GF1 has the 20mm, which superior as an all-use lens. It has manual controls.
The only things (afaik) the GF2 has going for it, are superior video and audio recording, and MAYBE a slightly better flash, slightly better high ISO performance. Even the fact that it’s smaller doesn’t really count as an advantage for everyone.
We really need an in-depth review and an in-depth comparison.

2 years ago |Panasonic provides announced the Lumix DMC-GF2 Mini 4 Thirds camera. Any simplified model with the corporation’s GF1, Panasonic GF2 inherits the same flat-body layout but with revised handle layout and touch-screen manage.
You got a really useful blog I have been here reading for about an hour. I am a newbie and your success is very much an inspiration for me.

2 years ago |Stop acting like children… now answer me this, when will the GF3 come out you infidels? also what would you choose the GF1 or the EPL1… the EPL2 seems to have some sort of issue with red dots or some sort of glare, that is off putting and makes me not want to buy it. if the GF3 will come out around feb\march then i shall wait, and it better be worth the wait and it better not cost 1000$ + or else im gonna smack the people at panasonic with the Fuji x100
