One camera SILVER! But will there be a BIG surprise?

Hmmmm! This rumor starts with a big ‘hmmmmm’! We are confident that the first micro four thirds camera from Olympus will be SILVER. However we found indications that the same camera may come in two different colours! Zone 10 predicted a silver-chrome-black camera for June and another model in black for December. However, this might NOT be exact.
Our sources have been telling us since months that the camera will be silver. But then last week one of them asked us: ” Do you like Leica?”. “Oh yes we love Leica; but those cameras are far too expensive for most of us!” He then continued, saying, “You will probably see a silver model and a different coloured model.” We at first thought he was talking about the second camera which could be coming in December. But now rumors are suggesting to us that there may be two different coloured cameras in June!
We are getting closer to the summer release and we are receiving more and more rumors. We know most of them could be “spam”, we have to learn to classify this “news”. So it is quite difficult to make exact predictions. Today we can be 90% sure that one camera will be SILVER and there is a 50% chance to see the same camera in a different look
We promised you a half rumor because we have no idea if there will be really a second camera! Leica Leica Leica, hmmm, what do you think?

5 years ago |this doesn’t exactly vindicate the fact the camera won’t have a built in flash.

5 years ago |I don’t find a built in flash so important.
a tiltable display is much more important for me.
and maybe an optical VF but I guess this won’t come true (sadly).
but check out the Olympus XA series.
Maybe and hopefully they’ll offer a special compact flash which can be attached to the body in a way so that the unit is still portable.

5 years ago |More pertinent to me with the lack of built in flash is that we also won’t get wireless flash compatibility. That’s just plain ridiculous considering the sp series digicams all get wireless command control.

Iportant are other things. I hope Olympus will benefit from mFT standard to produce high quality lenses and won’t makes it just a fashion camera.

5 years ago |While this is indeed interesting news, the color of the camera is ultimately cosmetic. What truly matters is the functionality for the end (mass) user; the user that this camera is 100% designed to target. The ‘No built in flash’ decision is a disastrous decision that will ultimately, and negatively, affect the financial performance of Olympus’s new camera/revenue stream.
Even if there was a ‘hot shoe flash’ announcement/rumor, that too would be equally disappointing as the camera is meant to fit in ones’ pocket without a bunch of add-ons, save for the lens. A hot shoe flash would negate such an attribute.

5 years ago |We keep hearing SILVER, but the orange mock up and a lot of Leicas are Two-Tone, silver and black. if Olympus wants a retro look, it has to be silver and black. is this what they mean by “silver” and “think Leica”? Keeping with the retro theme, i think the second one will be all black.
can you be more specific about what “silver” means?
thanks.

5 years ago |I can’t be more specific. I really tried to get more information but they have a closed mouth. May in few weeks we will know more…

5 years ago |That’s exactly our primary idea. Silver and black models…like Leica! But we are not sure about it…

5 years ago |Zuiko “Noctilux” perhaps? THat would be very nice on the m4/3 bodies… considering we get the benefits of light gathering AND depth of field that isn’t too shallow

i guess the oly design will be a bit like the leica digilux 2 – silver with black
