(FT4) Sigma is considering to make lenses for m43
“Speaking in an exclusive interview, Kazuto Yamaki also said the company is considering producing lenses for mirrorless systems such as those from Panasonic, Olympus, Samsung and announced by Sony.”

3 years ago |However, until I actually see Sigma lenses available to order from B&H, Adorama, etc. as available now for purchase for 4/3rds or micro 4/3rds cameras, I won’t hold my breath. Lets see, Sigma just announced 5 new lenses, none of which are for 4/3rds mounts. IIRC, the previous 2-3 announcements from Sigma also did not have any 4/3rd mount options (but they do provide Pentax). One of the lenses (50-500mm) replaces an existing lens that has had a 4/3rd mount, so I will imagine that this lens too will become unavailable for purchase except on the used market (much like the Panasonic 4/3rds lenses).

3 years ago |I was wondering why B&H shows the 4/3 Bigma as “unavailable”. That’s a bummer!
More selection is always good, but my experiences with Sigma’s 4/3 lenses have been mediocre to poor. My 18-50 f/2.8 was a decent workhorse lens (no match for the Oly 12-60 SWD though). My 30 f/1.4 was the worst lens I’ve ever owned! Terrible AF performance (even in decent light) and a really stiff MF ring that would make it a poor choice for video. I finally broke down and sold it back to B&H for a third of what I paid.
Given my experiences I’d be very cautious about buying anything with a Sigma label on it…

3 years ago |I’m all for it. I once loved my Sigma 28mm f1.8 for Canon EF mount back in the days of Fujicolor and Ektachrome. That was a very solid lens. Our pool of dedicated m4/3 lenses is so small now, that we should welcome all comers. Bring it on Sigma! And bring it on Fujifilm too.

3 years ago |Well, I have Sigma 30mm/1.4 and it’s one of the best lens I have. Maybe I’m just not picky.

3 years ago |I would love some more Sigma lenses for 4/3 system. I have two lenses I am very pleased with, an old 55-200mm that produces great results considering the low price I paid, and the 30mm which I use 95% of the time. It has revolutionised my photography. The autofocus works well enough on my E620, I do not have any issues, but then I do not shoot sports but street photography and portraits etc. I think it i a lens you either love or hate!

3 years ago |what the format needs is small primes, not adaptions of SLR zooms that have no impact on size
although to be fair, neither Panasonic or Olympus have figured that out either
