Currently, the only manufacturer that has been trying to cater for still photography enthusiasts is Samsung. Sony produces P&S products with a super sensor compromised by low quality, large lenses, Panasonic is becoming a victim of miniaturization and the megapixel race, Nikon is apparently hesitant about introducing a system which combines the wrong sensor and the wrong lenses, Pentax plans to compete with Ricoh over a non-existent market share with an interchangeable-lenses, tiny sensor system and Olympus is taking its time to introduce quality primes (and perhaps a new, albeit 1st generation, sensor). Too much consumer electronics, too little optics and functionality.

I bet since Sony entered the mirrorless game, Pannay doubled its effort to prevent leaks. On one side both want to not look bad compared to another. On the other side, both obviously do not want to release all the innovations they have on table right away - to milk the customer base longer with less R&D investments.

I wish Samsung was little bit faster and more aggressive. But for a newcomer they are already doing pretty good. Including new features in the firmware updates? I can't remember when camera manufacturers ever did that before.
