If our rumors are correct you will not see the Panasonic GF1 successor until Photokina.
Now we want to know from you what kind of improvement you want to see inside the future Panasonic GF2.
You have three votes!
1080p would be amazing (So i can use my 7-14mm during video with amazing results)
Built in stabilization is a must at this point really Panasonic….. (Smaller lens without OIS= more portable)
Built in viewfinder is okay with me as long as it doesn’t make the camera bigger (Rather to have it optional and use it when i need it)
Less fancy wording in the front. With Lumix, GF-1, M4/3Logo, and HD AVCHDLite (clockwise) is one of the key reason I switch to E-P2. The whole camera look like a commercial instead of a photographic tool. These wording make the whole camera look cheap.
Built-In EVF (Electronic ViewFinder) – get rid of a view finder altogether, I’m a professional photographer who has used four thirds cameras for 3 years and in that time I’ve NEVER used the view finder.
Better High ISO results – it’s performance at high ISOs is perfectly good * no need to join the ultra high ISO race*
Built-In Image Stabilization – will never happen on a Four Thirds Panasonic camera, they have stated many, many times they will be sticking with Optical Image Stablisation
Wheatersealed Body – most cameras are a lot more weather sealed these days than people realise.
Less noisy shutter and autofocus – yes need for definite
Tiltable LCD – have found this really use since purchasing my Panasonic L10′s, great for shooting “belly button style”
Faster and more reliable autofocus – it already is, you need to make the camera user more faster and reliable!
OLED high resolution screen – not gonna make that much of a difference to viewing
1080 50p recording – reserved for the GH2
Improved audio quality – this too reserved for GH2
Touchscreen – this will probably happen
More Megapixels – not needed it’s a “red herring”
DNG support – not really needed, eventually RAW will fade away too with better in camera jpeg processing
Improved dynamic range – how much better can it get???
Better button positioning – buttons look fine to me
More intuitive menu – never had a problem with Panasonic menus however Olympus menus are a different story
what I really want pana to introduce is a compact high quality still and video machine. LX3? Well, it comes close but I want them to add a mft sensor jn a REALLY compact body
I don’t think we will see 1080 50p in the GF2, but 720 50p and 1080 25/30p would be really nice. I’d also like to see some high speed video recording features in SD resolution with 175 fps (for PAL) and 210 fps (for NTSC) similar to the video features in the Casio and Samsung high speed compact cameras. These high speed features are really great and a lot of fun if you shoot fast action (like sports or fast insects or landing water birds etc.). I’d also like to see a small m4/3 camera with a swivel screen.
Match the E-PL1 $600 price, JPEG IQ and VF-2 EVF resolution. Whoops, that would be an E-PL1. Okay, so do that stuff and include the Panasonic 20mm as the kit lens, then you’d really have something!
Can I add one more point:
“more accurate auto white balance”?
so that jpeg straight from camera is more usable without post-processing, especially with color balance…
If I can only choose three options, I’ll go with:
1. built-in EVF (could swap the flash for it, if Pana introduces a small external tilt flash)
2. a dial for shutter speed
3. a dial for ISO
And since lenses are a different story, one more wish:
1. an apperture wheel on the lenses
Basicaly something that handles like a Pana LC1/L1 or Leica X1. If they do that, the rest is (almost) perfect as is

I think Huge is right about this, there are just too many logos and words on the front of the GF1. Not that it should keep me away from wanting one, but it would look better without at least two of them. This holds for the G2 as well.
One thing suggested above I would NOT like to see on the GF2, is a tiltable LCD. Even though it could be usable, it does not feel good to me…!?
if they could just crank out an update of all the nice features of the Epson RD1, I’d buy 2! This means having: a back screen that flips over to keep free of nose grease, mostly manual controls/interface-fewer trips to the menu system, built in EFV, and a 10MP sensor that looks great at ISO3200, hell even 6mp that does 12,500!–These sensors will only get noisier if they are bumped up to 14mp…If I wanted that much resolution i’d just pull out my 5D II and go to town—this is a compact camera for smaller prints…lets not fool ourselves! and in case weve all forgotten, 6MP of clean noise-free image blows up quite well to A3 size prints!
Why integrated EVF? If you want that, there is the G2 or GH1.
For video better buy the GH1 (or GH2 when it comes out).
I guess GF1/2 is about size, so EVF would spoil it.
Ryo81, I agree, Panasonic’s default colors are bad, should be improved.
Sensor based image stabilization would be the killer feature, so you can use it with small, fast primes (more small fast primes is the other feature I’d like, but that’s about lenses and not about the camera itself).
I love all these polls, they stretch imagination
But let’s stop dreaming of pushing technology on because hardware is not so fast to improve, not as fast as we can dream of.
My proposal for new poll is: “Our wishes of new firmware features”. As I can imagine (regarding former canon’s and other brand’s compact camera’s firmware hacks) firmware changes are quite easy and fast to implement. So maybe someone will hear our voices calling for direct flexible set of EV bracketing stops in panasonic G series (I got rid of 7 shots needed for +/-3 EV spread), programmable timelapse shooting, DOF display, some display helper for maual zone mettering (for example as seen on old Minolta Dynax – it was possible even in the film era. Take a look what I mean – http://gallery.photo.net/photo/557626-lg.jpg. Now we have Live View LCDs so we can superimpose these informations easily on the living image!), wider scale of EV compensation etc. There is a lot to improve in that matter. And I think that it can be easy to make, a real difference and to expand creative usefulness of “old” (by firmware updates) and new u4/3 cameras. All these and many more features are possible and they are only a matter of software programming, a good will and little imagination…
What do You think of making this kind of poll and sending the results to manufacturers?….

Two hotshoes would let one use flash and EVF simultanously ”
This calls for two models in the lineup; an improved GF1 with an optional EVF in the hotshoe and with build in flash, and one new, slightly larger Pro Model with built in Electronic View Finder but WITHOUT build in flash (no room for it). Olympus have diversified their lineup, so should Panasonic.
ya, two cameras.
i wanna see an EPSON R-D1 clone, complete with dials, updated with an EVF and 14 mp with a Sigma 18-50mm F2.8 MACRO kit lens; sell for somewhere in the $400 range…
fix the JPEG?
na. just add a couple of ‘art filters’:
‘swiss cheese’
‘smudged pastel’
‘bloody pools of liquid color’
and ‘techno grunge’[mimics ISO 3200 at ISO 100]
a sensor dust ref of some sort might be good.
weather sealing is a good thing.
make it fun, playful, but not gaudy overly ostentatious; something you want to pick up and use, actually carry around with you without feeling terribly encumbered, not want to put down, rugged enough that you aren’t afraid to carry it regularly (what advertising! lots of people actually walking around the streets with one!), is quick on target and capable of outstanding imaging.
there’s an old expression in design engineering: ‘form follows function’. when this actually happens, the result is ‘beautiful’. no matter how slick you make a form, if it doesn’t serve the function, it’s ‘ugly’.
FT= FourThirds
FT1=probably fake rumor
FT2=rumor from unkown sources
FT3=50% chance it is correct
FT4=rumor from known sources
FT5=almost certainly correct!

Tiltable LCD is useful for video, less so for stills.
