4 years ago |I’m satisfied with the speed but the AF area needs to be smaller. As it is now, the background affects the focusing way too easily. Autofocusing on a bird, for instance, is almost impossible when there are trees or other detail in the background.

4 years ago |I was already. I focus one time and i keep photographing as lang the distance doesn’t change (oldfashion way).
As far i tried now, The speed is faster but no significant.

4 years ago |While I am very happy with the auto focus speed, I am not happy with the new ‘feature’ of switching to the LCD screen for menu items or reviews when the E-P2 electronic viewfinder is used. One of the minor reasons I bought the E-P2 over the E-P1 in the first place was so that I could use the EVF for review and menu setting, and not have to switch from the electronic viewfinder to the LCD like you have to do for a DSLR. I had this in my Olympus C-2100UZ, Olympus C-8080WZ, Canon S1, Olympus SP-550UZ cameras, and it is very convenient in bright light.
Here is the fourthirdsphoto article I started on the subject.

I also agree about the AF area needing to be smaller. I’m not sure if it is bigger than it was before, but after doing the upgrade, I was focusing on several things in the house, and couldn’t get a focus lock once or twice. However, I didn’t try it on the same object before doing the update.

4 years ago |I haven’t upgraded yet, since my only USB cable that fits the EP-1 is at work! WTF, Olympus?
Jonathan
4 years ago |Jón: the USB cable was provided with the camera. I don’t think it’s a standard one.
Agent00soul: fully agree, I just shot thousands of photos on holiday and when shooting someone against a strongly lit background, my EPL1 made the edge of the subject’s head sharp but not their facial features (I was using a 20/1.7). Quite annoying, but good thing there’s manual focus override

4 years ago |Does anyone obtain the results of E-PL1 as tested by dpreview? It seems that it is quite an attractive point if E-PL1 can focus faster than G1 with lenses from Panasonic.

4 years ago |Am I blind or are they testing version 1.1 !!! at dpreview? 1.4 should be even better.

4 years ago |Anybody tried e-p2 n Panny 20mm combination? both with new 1.1 software, focusing a bit faster, continuous focusing in video mode improved. The only problem is the lens making more nand louder noice both in photo and video shooting.Any idea why?

4 years ago |at, the funny thing is they didn’t include the G1 + Panasonic lens. Maybe not to spoil the Oly firmware party… who knows.
Mark chan
4 years ago |Really faster. 20mm doesn’t go through whole plane to get focus. Real improvement on ep1 I see.

4 years ago |I agree about the efv to lcd switching – make it an option!
I prefer the old way.

4 years ago |um, it is an option…
