2 years ago |My three wishes:
1. A new Olympus m4/3 with swivel LCD, a bit smaller than E-PL1
2. Panasonic fast m4/3 primes sub 25mm, sub F1.4
3. native m4/3 lenses from Sigma

2 years ago |Ooops!
Just 87 votes (14%) for GH2, the presumably first really high image quality MFT camera?
As far as I can see, first of all you expect small size for a MFT camera – rather than quality, ergonomics and handling…

2 years ago |f/1.4 or primes for Olympus 4/3s (not micro). A 40-50mm-ish lens and a 65-70mm-ish lens. A fast f/2 or faster wide angle would be welcome. 12mm or so. A new 50mm with a focus limiter and a 35-100 with SWD. They don’t need a new camera, but I’d like to see that they have a better AF system coming.

2 years ago |I’m waiting for Olympus and Panasonic merge their knowledge into a single camera.
Olympus JPEG processing
Olympus EVF
Panasonic contrast detection algorithms
Panasonic fast UI
Panasonic ergonomics
and…
Sony nex price!
Marcel
2 years ago |For the Panasonic crew, if the DMC-L2 is a bit far fetched, please please consider a L1+. That is the L1 with an updated sensor, tethering support and a high res viewing screen. Come on, you can do that!

2 years ago |@Tony:
Olympus EVF?! Don’t you think the 140% magnification, 800×600 true pixel EVF from G2 is far the best in terms of electronic viewfinders?

I want MFT like Panay G2 but with IBIS and 20mm f/1.7 kit lens.
Clark
2 years ago |1/ f1.4 primes needed for 100mm
3/ I’ll take the GF2 Pany body with EVF plus swivel screen
4/Would be nice to see sigma jump into the fold.
If either company insists on making zooms I really don’t get why they should make them any slower than f4 or f4.5. What ever happened to making a straight F4 60-200mm. That’s a nice workable speed, lots of bokeh, and it just makes for a nice lens to use, not having to manage the changing aperture in zooming and framing.

2 years ago |Ok somehow my post changed without notice until posting…
what I meant above was:
1/ f1.4 primes needed for less than or equal (“) 100mm
and so on…

2 years ago |not on the voting list:
Leica m43 mid-price camera (regardless of with fixed or interchangeable lenses)

2 years ago |More 4/3 products from Oly to show that they are still developing the format. 35-100mm f2.8 SWD would be nice.
Nathan
2 years ago |Leica is not on the voting list because Leica does not build any micro four thirds cameras, and has publicly stated that micro four thirds AND Four Thirds do not provide the image quality they need in order to demand their prices.
They need M9 level full frame and APS-C cameras. 4/3 has little to offer them since their fans are so rabid that they’ll pay 5,000 bucks for an APS-C camera. (The suckers)

2 years ago |Olympus has to make more SWD lenses… Now we have ONLY 3 lenses. What is the point of making those lenses? Just to make the E-3 fast focusing camera? If Olympus would remake all lenses with SWD I would be happy but I think that is just a dream

2 years ago |Well, since we’re speculating/dreaming. Here is my list, wich is 4/3 bias:
1) E-5 with superb image quality: like a mix between the GH1 and E-PL1, and hopefully even better.
2) More 4/3 lenses that show off the image quality of such lenses as the ZD50, 150, 14-35,35-100, 7-14 and 50-200.
3) I too would love a DMC-L2 or L1+ (I love my L1 ergonomically even though I use my E3 most of the time.)
4) A m4/3 rangefinder style camera.

2 years ago |I’m most excited about seeing the video capabilities of the upcoming Nikon entry level camera. It sounds very exciting. Unlike Panny, Sony, and Canon who are crippling their video to protect video camera sales Nikon has no video cameras to protect. Same goes for Olympus and Pentax. These companies need to come to the forefront in terms of still camera video- they can give consumers much more than Panny/Canon/Sony are willing to give when it comes to video. It’s amazing to me that they haven’t done more to tap into that market.

2 years ago |Anyway, from that list I’m most excited to see a high end Pen and fast primes. Fast primes are key to maintaining the viability of micro 4/3.

2 years ago |Just want to see a better sensor (DR wise) in an Oly pen camera with Panasonics AF performance…..and why not a fast zoom (28-70mm)….untill m4/3 doesnt improve their sensors i will not buy a m4/3 camera again….(sold my G1)……

2 years ago |I want a 400f2.8 or f4 a 500f4 or a 600f4, something longer that takes advantage of the 4/3′s 2x crop and can be used without teleconverters but then add a TC to get even more reach.
admin
2 years ago |We didn’t receive any rumor about a 400 or 500mm lens. But I guess that would be a really nice lens. One of the main “features” of the 43 sensor is the 2x factor. That can be usefull for wildlife photography!
Eric
2 years ago |I think it’s safe to say people want a rangefinder-esque high end m4/3′s camera with built in view finder, out of all those choices (you always put too much overlap into these polls by the way) the high end Olympus + GF3 have a combined 60% of the vote. I know I went back and fourth on those two myself before finally voting for Olympus. Either/or, just someone do it please.

2 years ago |Usable ISO Between 1600 – 3200 on the E5! Better image quality then the E3! ( Pixel size on the sensor optimized )
admin
2 years ago |Hi IPNext. There is no doubt the E-5 will have better image quality! What we know now is that it will use a new Panaosnic sensor (but designed by Olympus).
ItsaChris
2 years ago |how about a 2 stage retractable Olympus 50mm f/2.0.
use a macro switch on lens to extend the lens fully and give 1:2 macro ability (like a built in extension tube).
or
normal mode that provides a longer min focus distance and thus faster AF.
and
provide a kit with the Ep-3 (built in VF) 17mm and 50mm.
so oly if you dont mind go remake your 50mm if it is not retractable and release it by the end of the year… Ok? ;-P

2 years ago |Hey Admin,
Any word on specs for the E-5 aside for the Oly designed Pany sensor? I’d be especially interested in video capability. It’s been suprisingly quiet in 4/3 land of late…
Also, I’d drop cash on a 600 f/4 for surf & birding shots!
Thanks! Keep up the good work!
admin
2 years ago |Hi Jimson! It has not been quite. But the problem is that we recieved to many unrealiable info and we need some time to check everything. There was one source that told me that the E-5 (or whatever the name will be) will have video. We also recieved infos about some sort of half electornic shitters and other stuff like that. But that’s really soemthing we have to work out beofre to post it on 43rumors. Bye!!!

2 years ago |ItsaChris, Olympus made a OM Auto tube 65-116mm to Zuiko Macro Lens, and i hope Olympus made a modul for macro to use in the new modulsystem.
Brod1er
2 years ago |Admin, I am not sure we need “electornic shitters”!! How about a high quality fast midrange zoom to complement the excellent 7-14 and offer an alternative to a handful of primes ? I am not so kern on swapping lenses more yhan necessary. I would buy a 20-60 f2-2.8. This would be good for gh1/2 owners combining a standard prime through to portrait.
fta
2 years ago |a 1.4x or 2.0x teleconverter would be an instant buy…
fta
2 years ago |oh and forgot… maybe the GH2 might get a new lens, but a 12-60mm or 12-80mm f2.8 would be worth every penny.

2 years ago |Well,
of course the E5 and then new HG and SHG lenses. As for m4/3 well as long as its keep the Toy-Status I don’t care.

2 years ago |Thanks Admin!
I’m sure you’ve got a lot of work to do in separating the wheat from the chaff. I suppose we’ll see what shakes out soon enough…
Personally, I try to avoid those crazy Japanese “electornic shitters”. Sounds like an expensive high tech solution to a low tech problem =)
I would love to see an E-5 with a combined mechanical / electronic shutter. That sounds like a good compromise for still and video applications.
If anyone from Oly is reading this, I would like to see a weatherproof version of the FL-50R offered. The weatherproofing on the E-3 and HG lenses is great, how about taking that last step weatherproofing the last part of the system?
Thanks!

2 years ago |my vote goes to a m4/3 rangefinder body, we had enough dslrs already, on with the RF revolution
Inge-M.
2 years ago |The is better to a use global shutter to many thing also to video, but you need not take hight for sync speed to shutter at use full flash, and maybe very faster speed also to, and more room bake mirror.
But the big advantage is naturally high speed shutter use on photography, but video hope the is better all-round.

I can most definitely say that m4/3rds is no toy. Some of my most recent landscapes were all done with the EP2 + 12-60. you can find them on my website http://www.wryphotography or my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/wryphotography
