iirc GF1 wasn't previously available in Singapore, so it's fine to countdown to a local anouncement...
everyone needs to calm down, go for some fresh air, have a beer and then there will be a shiny new rumour feeding the internet hype machine :)

Singapore was never a launch site for anything new in cameras in Asia. its mostly in japan, korea or hk. it was intended for local audiences only. there never was a global announcement for this "event"

This is probably one of the dumbest marketing moves I've ever seen. We've heard rumors about new cameras. Do they have any new cameras coming out? Is all their hype about new cameras nothing more than a WEB SITE ANNOUNCEMENT!?! All they've done with this is to PO and confuse customers!!!

I think Panasonic should take to heart Aesop's fable, "The Boy Who Cried Wolf". It's about a shepherd boy who kept crying "Wolf! Wolf! The Wolf is chasing the sheep!" He loved to watch the villagers scramble up the hill to help him drive off the wolf. Mad villagers yelled, "Don't cry 'wolf', shepherd boy, when there's no wolf!"

So one day a real wolf came and dove into the flock of sheep. The shepherd boy cried "Wolf! Wolf!" But the villagers, having been fooled many times, were sure he was lying! So they never came and the wolf scattered the herd (and presumably had lamb chops for dinner).

The moral of this story is that nobody believes a liar...even when he is telling the truth! So, when (IF) Panasonic adds new cameras to the site, I suspect that the response will be less than stellar. A lot of us will think it's just more empty marketing hype!

Regards,

Dan.
