7 months ago |Admin, there are errors in article need to correct:
1. First URL is firmware update for 45-175mm X lens, not for 14-42mm X lens
2. Second URL is firmware update for 14-42mm X lens, not for 45-175mm X lens

45-175mm X lens improves OIS in new firmware, not 14-42mm X lens.

7 months ago |For a second there, I thought you meant something completely different with the words “Apple/Olympus/update” in your headline;)

7 months ago |It seems lists of fixes are inverted in this article : the first list is for the 45-175, the second list is for the 14-42.

7 months ago |The 45-175 lens update isn’t new per se. It’s version 1.1 which I loaded onto my GF2 on Oct. 14. The only new thing for me was being able to load today’s firmware onto my GH2. So….for my GF2 there will not be any improvement. Maybe the GH2 focusing will be improved, and I’ll check it out later.

7 months ago |It’s the 45-175mm “lens” firmware update. Not firmware for the camera body. Those are two different things. This lens firmware update was not available until today..so I don’t think you could have loaded it on Oct. 14th. Although for this update, before you install it..you MUST make sure that you do have the latest firmware in your cameras.
Sounds like you do.
Then download the extracted file for the 45-175mm firmware to an SD card, put it in the camera, PUT THE LENS ON THE CAMERA,(which I forgot to do! LOL)…and hit play…this updates the “LENS” firmware, not the camera firmware. I think that once the lens is updated it is good on all you cameras. You can check by putting the lens on the camera, and checking “version” on the menu system. The screen shows Body Firmware AND Lens Firmware.
Hope that that helps.

7 months ago |marsupial2go..the best thing to do is go to this page at Panasonic and read EVERYTHING slowly (it is confusing) and go thru the process, slowly, step by step. There are two versions of the downloads, one for windows, one for macs. The lens downloads are on the second page after you his accept at the bottom of the first page….Just set aside some time and read…everything. If you are unsure perhaps you can get someone with more experience to help you.

7 months ago |FYI …the link above at the top of the page that Admin posted for the 45-175mm firmware fix takes you directly to the download window. It skips ALL of the instructions and warnings for putting software on your camera or lens. I found, for me…it was MUCH better to start on this page (below) and read everything, check the firmware on my camera body and the hit accept at the bottom of the page and then go to the second page and read everything.. before doing the download for the lens. Maybe I am a little slow…but I like to be careful.
Patience is a dying art.

My download went smoothly and I look forward to trying out the lens to see if the IS is better. Shooting pics is more fun than this, anyway.
