Panasonic LX4 with more zoom (and much more news on Quesabesde)
Quesabesde had the chance to visit the Panasonic factories in Japan (click here to read the google english translation). Quesabesde is sure that soon Panasonic will release the Panasonic LX3 successor (the LX4?) which will probably have more wider zoom range. Panasonic also denied that they are preparing a camera with larger sensor (or with a square sensor). But we can’t expect Panasonic to tell us the truth about that
Thanks Quesabesde for allowing us to copy one of their pictures!

First they say “Although we must not discard the forgetfulness factor, through the words of those responsible for Panasonic does not appear that an integrated electronic display appears on the short-term plans for future GF2.”.
Then ” As already mentioned, it seems, for example, that an integrated electronic display appears on the short-term plans of the company for its Micro Four Thirds of smaller size.”
Which is it, any one speaking Spanish care to give a better translation?
Speculation of an LX4 anouncement in July is cool. But I doubt that the LX3 would still be on the production lines if that were the case? Fingers crossed, I’ll be passing through Singapore in September, a July announcement might reach the Singapore shelves by then.

2 years ago |You seem to be forgetting that there are two not just one new versions of the GF1 rumored to be coming so no contradiction at all. The Pany spokesman said one would follow the example of the G10 but in the body style of the GF1. That to me means a cheaper version of GF1 to compete with EPL1 and NEX3 probably plastic body instead of more expensive existing body, otherwise much the same and possible smaller lower resolution EVF to lower cost to match the competition.? Question will this new model be smaller similar to NEX3 ,only with new 14/2.5 compact lens?
The second GF2 model of course will be the one with integrated EVF much like the patent sketch. Pany again clearly indicating that this one will have the integrated electronic display which I take to mean same Touch View as G2 has. Another possibiity is if this model is delayed to allow incorporation of the global shutter, then possibly Pany will be issuing a only slightly modified GF1 model with the touch screen with new processing engine. I think this is a logical progression with both these cameras being available this early fall at photo show.

No idea why Google translates the second sentence as “As already mentioned, it seems…” when it clearly says the opposite in Spanish: “no parece…” means “it doesn’t seem…”

Thank you for clarifying that. Will have to wait and see I guess!
LX4
2 years ago |I really hope the LX4 (or LX series?) will bring something extraordinary to the high-end compact market. Such as
- FullHD video 1080p60/50/30/25
- MFT sensor
- f2.0 – 2.8 collapsable lens (24 – 120 mm equivalent)
- manual focus capabilities (shallow depth of field)
- some SONY like features (burst mode, sweep panorama, HDR, etc.)

2 years ago |A MFT sensor would make it a MFT camera. In that case it would have interchangeable lens and it would be called GF2, probably.
Do you know how big an f2.0-2.8, 24-120 mm equivalent for a MFT sensor would be? The current kit lens is f/3.5-5.6, 28-86 mm equivalent and it is already pretty big. The one you suggest would be about twice bigger (and 3 times heavier). How could that be a compact camera???
Please, let’s keep it real.
LX4
2 years ago |@Zonkie: Well, it’s all about engineering. OK 24 – 120 mm eq. might be a little greedy BUT imagine a Lumix G Vario 14-45 mm F 3,5-5,6 ASPH. (length 60 mm; withd: 52 mm) O.I.S. beeing collapsable. Compact when switched off and that is what matters when it comes to portability.

2 years ago |LX4: That would look like an E-PL1 instead. Still much bigger than LX3. I don’t see why Panasonic would put any bigger sensor on LX series as they already have G-series to cater for that.

2 years ago |Translation from spanish is (summarized):
1) In July we could see the replacement of LX3.
2) Although it might be an on-purpose misleading info, according to Panasonic’s managers it doesn’t seem that we’re gonna see an integrated optical visor in the GF1′s replacement model (GF2?).
3) For new micro-thirds cameras, we’ll have to wait Photokina.
