Panasonic GH2 review at Photographyblog! It’s an “essential” camera!
Photographyblog posted their Panasonic GH2 review. And the conclusions is: “The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 offers a winning combination of high-quality stills and video, proven handling and design, and a more affordable price-tag – it’s simply the most complete interchangeable lens camera currently available for people who want to shoot in both formats.”
And it’s the first time I see such an amazing rating by Photographyblog… 24/25 points! The camera gains an “Essential” recommendation!!! Only the Nikon D3s and the Nikon D3x
do have the same “Essential” rating (but they also do cost over $5.000!).

2 years ago |I got my GH2 only a few days ago. I believe my Nikon D700 will gather alot of dust from now on. ISO 3200 on the GH2 ain´t that far behind D700 (but the difference is more clear at ISO 6400).
I would have enjoyed this camera no matter what the reviews where telling, but I must confess that I´m very happy to see it receive good reviews.

2 years ago |You might want to look again more carefully. The noise is low yes but there is also no detail there. It’s all been smeared away in the Jpegs and having downloaded the Raws which are better you can clearly still see in camera processing going on as there is little detail. At 3200 the D700 performance is way ahead on this. E5 and EPL-1 one both retain much more detail at high ISO on Raws than the Panasonic as well.

2 years ago |Haven’t read the review yet, but I rate Photographyblog highly. They go into many details other websites do not even mention, which means they really devote some time to a camera they test.

2 years ago |Does the GH2 has wireless flash control? I can not find anything about this subject. I mean can the pop-up flash control an other Panasonic or Olympus bigger flash?

2 years ago |quote “built-in Optical Image Stabiliser to help combat camera-shake”
Does GH2 have in-body stabilizer?
You can find this sentence on the first page in “Introduction”. I’m sure they are not talking about the lens.

2 years ago |I believe “optical” image stabilization always means the lens. That’s the camera’s optics. It’s an odd word choice, though… the phrase “built-in” is a little misleading. It’s not built-in to the camera. It’s built-in to certain lenses.

2 years ago |Something I don’t understand about the review. Copying the comment I left on these guys’ site:
“I don’t get it. What do you mean by “extremely well built” and “metal chassis” ? All the reviews so far have been pointing at the plastic built as a weak point and product specifications on dpreview mention “body material: plastic” ?
How do you explain the discrepancy?”
I mean, f%&k, is it professional built or is it not?

2 years ago |Regarding your comment on “extrememly well built and metal chassis. Even the G10 and G2 have a very sturdy all metal chassis covered with high grade durable plastic. Comments from reviews have generally noted the body build of G2 and I assume now GH2 to be better than that on entry level DSLRs. For comparison the Canon 60D is of similar metal chassis and high grade plastic cover. Some reviewers have assumed that the G2 and GH2 bodies are not as strong because of their lighter weight of the innards compared to DSLRs without examining what the camera is made of.

2 years ago |But… but… but although I love its weight, dimensions and features… I just hate the look the look of it, what can I do ?
I know wgat I can do: wait 2011 for the professional bodies and rangefinder style m43…

2 years ago |Their review lost credibility with me in the first paragraph, no they were not referring to lens-based OIS, they didn’t seem to understand the difference. If they failed to get something so basic wrong, I put no faith in anything else they wrote.

2 years ago |I don’t see what the confusion is. This is what they say in their introduction:
“Optical image stabilisation is supplied via the lens, rather than being built-in to the camera body.”
Also, I do not see the words “built-in” before optical image stabilization that Jesper is quoting in an above comment. I was merely commenting on his quote, not the source. Did PhotographyBlog go back and edit their article?

2 years ago |hd72, read my post again. I said in “Introduction” section. I not sure if I am allowed to quote the whole text, however you will find it like I said before in section “introduction”, which is the first piece of text in this review.
Later in the test as you said hd72, the reviewer did write “Optical image stabilisation is supplied via the lens, rather than being built-in to the camera body.” which is why I find the review to be confusing.

2 years ago |Never mind, they’ve corrected the text now. The new text is still a bit misleading though
