Panasonic GH2 review at Letsgodigial (+ more GH2 news)
Letsgodigital reviewed the new Panasonic GH2: “Panasonic is creating a point of reference with the GH2 with which the competition can measure itself. Panasonic’s years of video experience are clearly visible and is very effectively integrated into an existing concept. Photo and video stand effortlessly together at a high level in the Panasonic Lumix GH2, and can live up to the competition.”
Hybridcams.fr interviewed Jean-Baptiste Lefournier, the director of “Lumix On The Road / GH2 From Paris to California” (Once clicked on the link scroll to see the english translation). Jean says about the GH2 that: “The incredible speed of the autofocus will remain the no. 1 innovation of the GH2, then its new range of ISO 160 to ISO 12 800, then the touch interface even though I think it is for users not necessarily pro (but for the Q Menu touch which is very convenient). The software processing of the video image seems better (no more banding issues on the skies).”
We also found some full size GH2 iso shots at Dpreview forum and a Panasonic GH2 vs Panasonic GF1 on Flickr via Sunnyeva.

2 years ago |That is some warm praise:
“Photo and video stand effortlessly together at a high level in the Panasonic Lumix GH2, and can live up to the competition. The price/quality ratio, especially in terms of shooting video with a system camera, is changing thanks to the GH2, to its advantage. There is simply no better photo/video combination to be found in this price segment currently, perhaps it can be in the whole camera segment. We congratulate the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 camera!”
They also say there’s a one stop improvement in S/N ratio over the GH1. They use DXo analysis software to measure…

2 years ago |I dont care about their way of writing and their reviews, althou i agree with the conclusion, but saying “living up to competition” and “no better photo/video combination to be found” is just doesn’t sound correct

2 years ago |Keztio, as far as my english goes, you cannot say “it is as good as the competition” followed by “there is no competition” in the same sentence

2 years ago |You’re right, but I think the two antagonistic statements refer to different things:
(1) The photo – and video – quality PER SE each are enough good to face up to the competition (true!) and
(2) the photo/video combination – as a whole, integrated system – is as good as has no competition at this moment (also true).
My English is far to be perfect so not sure if I’ve managed to make my remark understandable…

2 years ago |Consider $$$ already invested in m4/3 troop (lenses, mount converter… etc), GH2 is very likely to nominate for the must have upgrade of the year. Of course GF series is even smaller and lighter, but it’s more or less in a different category, and except by miracle Oly E-P3 really will using a Kodak 16MP CCD with extraordinary noise control, all things come with GH2 is the best you can get in…. I would say two years.
With no consideration of lenses, especially those ridiculously expensive C mount movies/antique lenses, I would seriously consider Pentax K-r or Nikon D3100, they aren’t huge compare to GH2 and only about 100g heavier, too big for your jeans pocket, either do GH2, but you don’t need to worry about IQ and ISO noise performance anymore, even cheaper and peace of mind, just that you have to carry a slightly bigger bag with you.

2 years ago |Amazon is still claiming mine will deliver “by Nov 22″, which has me cautiously excited…

2 years ago |I´m also waiting here in Spain (Nr. 1 in the wait list in a local online store) and they told me probably end of november or first days in december. Where did you put the order Yosemite (in what country)?
yosemite
2 years ago |Hi zinanga. I ordered it the very minute it became available on http://www.amazon.com (USA). My guess is those who ordered a few minutes or even hours later got days or weeks later delivery estimates, because Panasonic is only producing a few thousands of these per month globally.

2 years ago |I ordered mine from Amazon UK on the 30th September. Amazon are currently saying that the camera should be with me 24-26th November.

2 years ago |I look forward to reading reviews and seeing videos from users who will receive product soon. Users speak truth….the only reviews thus far have been from gear moles with freebies and a company script.

2 years ago |To be honest, I find it hard to imagine that the camera will be here on or before next Monday…The fact that it’s not even available on Amazon anymore smelled like Panasonic are having difficulties of some basic sort.

2 years ago |Amazon UK still have it available for pre order with a despatch date of 22nd Nov.
Staying Japan for a year
2 years ago |I’ve already got GH2 here in Japan. The 14-140mm lens kit is about $1100, and the price is dropping at moderate rate. There are though competition GH2 face here in Japan. Sony’s A55 double zoom kit is sold at around $700, Canon’s EOS60D is just dropped under $700 (and the lens kit is about same price as GH2 kit).
