2 years ago |The Panasonics sold in Japan do not have english menus and you can’t get them installed. Beware, unless you can read Japanese you probably shouldn’t buy one from there or a website that sells Japan specific products. Of course the warrantee will not be good in America or any other country except Japan

2 years ago |I think Vitaliy already has his eye on the GH2, if that’s the case a Japanese camera can easily be hacked to give an English menu (if the camera breaks you’d have to send it back to Japan). Now no telling how long it will take, but I’m guessing there will be some firmware updates coming out for the camera soon due to its rushed release. And unless there is a lot of difficult locked down code enclosing the next firmware a hacked GH2 should soon follow

I plan to buy the GH2 in the US soon. I probably won’t be one of the first, but the info and speculation I’ve read point to a good device for videography. I’ll shoot some stills, too, for sure.
I was about to buy the Sony NEX VG10 in Sept., but the specs were bad. Not surprisingly, many reviews are bad. At least the GH2 has a predecessor (GH1) that got good reviews.
I’m not much of a firmware hack, but we’ll see. I do have some decent EOS glass, though, and a sound kit. I’m ready…..

2 years ago |I also had a look at the Japan website and its all too complicated. Best to wait until someone can ship it from US or outside UK. One thing I know for shure is that I am not paying for UK inflastion prices!
I can get it for £1000 shiped from the US and if I would to pay for it here I would have to pay £1200-1400. Cheaper to get it from far away than to walk 5 mins down the road.
