2 years ago |I’m having good luck finding the new Panasonic µ4/3 lenses at B&H by searching for their Panasonic Mfr. #:
For instance, find the new 100-300mm f/4-5.6 OIS by searching for:
H-FS100300
B&H lets you sign up to “Notify When In Stock”
B&H says “Approx. Arrival November”
B&H says $599.95 (USD)
(Panasonic’s Mfr. # for their 14mm f/2.5 Pancake is:
H-H014
Approx Arrival November
$399.95 (USD)

2 years ago |Prices in Japan:
GH2 body 84,900yen = $1000 USD
GH2 with 14-140mm 127,500 yen = $1500 USD
These prices will probably drop 15-520% once they are on the shelves in October, and then continue down. For some reason, Panasonic G-series prices have been consistently lower in Japan, than in the US, apart from when they’re first released.
For example, I bought a new GH1 with 14-140mm (hackable) a few weeks back for around $790 USD in Tokyo.

+ import tax
- a local contact if it goes wrong or needs repair
… possibly not worth it?
I used to buy lenses on eBay from Japan and once those two costs are added I was saving 40-50% on the best UK prices, it was worth it then. Now the price difference doesn’t look so worthwhile (for the UK to import)

2 years ago |As far as I can tell, the only improvement over the GH1 is somewhat faster autofocus. The big miracle to me is why they increased the Full HD rate to 60 fps internally, when the actual viewable frame rate is the same as in the GH1. Isn’t this simply a battery hog without any advantage in performance? If anybody can help me understand, I’d appreciate. Maybe I misunderstand.

2 years ago |Hi All, I’d like to contact the guy who did the hack for the GH1 to see if a) he thinks it will be applicable to the GH2 and if so, how long this process may take?, and b) if he thinks there might also be a way to make it true 1080p60.

2 years ago |Thanks, Admin! One more question: do you think there is a chance that Panasonic will not impose the recording time limitation in the GH2?
