Panasonic G2 hack released!
Vitaly (the hacker) just announced the new Panasonic G2 hack at DVXuser forum:
“PTool 3.51d released
Added support for Panasonic G2 v1.10 firmware.
Please, consider all patches status, except MJPEG and AVCHD end user patches, as “very risky”!
Download link is present in first post of this topic.”
P.S: There is a discount on the G2 at Amazon (now $549)

2 years ago |Any idea what the hack for the G2 will do? Bitrates? 24p?

2 years ago |I am wondering the same thing, having no m4/3 camera (but a GS should be here soon!) I am not really familiar with the possibilities…

2 years ago |Do you think that there will be a hack for G10 too? It essentially the same camera as g2, right?

1080/24p, audio levels?

2 years ago |It seems that the G2 is able to do “whatever” the others can do…

However, I have not read it all, so i might be mistaken.
1080/24p with high bitrate from a G2 whould not be a bad thingie….

2 years ago |I am currently playing with the G2 firmware patch. Among the other, you get:
- removal of 30 min recording time limitation (PAL)
- full PASM control in movie recording mode (but alas it seems to be buggy at the moment)
- ability to record chip’s native 25p frame rate (as opposed to the camera default but fake 50p)
- video bitrate tweaking
- AVCHD audio bitrate tweaking, increase up to 448kbps

2 years ago |There’s only 720p AVCHD, sorry. There is however an option to adjust 720p MPEG frame width to 1920 px, with the comment that resolution is not much better (didn’t try this).

2 years ago |So, I don’t have a dvxuser account and didn’t see the point of getting one just to leave this one comment, but is it possible to look at the fz100 panasonic camera firmware to help implement 1080p and manual video settings on the g2? My understanding is that although the cameras have different sensors and other hardware, they have the same or similar processor, and manual shooting and 1080p is available on the fz100 even though it’s a much cheaper camera.
