2 years ago |Yeah, they don’t know how to sell these GF3 plus 14mm pancake !! Panasonic goofed : they put a wide angle prime (something appreciated by enthusiast photographers) in a camera missing the ease of control of the GF1 ! Naturally such a camera got despised by advanced photographers, while P&S up graders preferred the zoom kit ! Is anyone surprised ? Not me, but I’m happy because this allowed me to buy one of these small pancake at about half the price from an Asiabn dealer who wrote that he ad got the lenses from broken kits..
At 379$ you pay fr the lens you want and get a soso spare body, fr quasi free. so this may finally interest Enthusiast photographers. At least those deals are ended.. But they have a wait list.

That’s almost the price of the pancake by itself
I might keep the body for the wife or sell for another lens.

2 years ago |The Best Buy Midnight Madness sale last night had the GF3 with 14-42 kit lens for $300.99 ! It’s back up to 399 now….
I bought one of these yesterday in the store, and I have to say, I just LOVE it. I was shocked. It is tiny enough to actually be really portable, the screen is good enough to see in daylight, the interface is very very good (and this from a GH2 user), and shockingly enough, the IQ is good. Panasonic has done a LOT of work with the sensor; it is MUCH better than the version they had on the G2 I had before….I can see using this up to ISO 1600 without too much worry; where with the G2 ISO 800 was it, and that was pushing it.
I think Panasonic is really smart to price these like this, since it really is an appealing little camera, and once they get people into the system, they will upgrade to the other bodies down the road.

2 years ago |Target.com has the GF3 with 14-42 for $399. But they mention free shipping and a $75 gift card so the total cost could be as low as $325. The web page implied the gift card and free shipping applied but did not clearly state that so I am not %100 sure they apply.

Where are you seeing the cheap 14mm only offering or is that gone too? I’d be all in on a cheap 14mm pancake.

2 years ago |On eBay, from a seller named Jan plus a number, jan1226 or something like that. He ships worldwide from hongkong. I got mine for 191$ plus 20$ fr expedited shipping. It was there in 6 days. The lens wasn’t in the original package and it didn’t come with a warranty. But everything works fine. It has costed me half of what I’d have to pay here, where Panasonic goods are sold way more than elsewhere. Olympus prices are fairer when compared to other countries. You have to look whether you are willing to take the risk or whether the price difference is worth the trouble. There was a thread on the mft forum at DPreview.

2 years ago |I just made a quick search on EBay for the 14mm and I was flooded by announcements concerning that pancakes. Several different dealers, many in South Korea, one in Taïwan.. The cheapest was 180$. There must be something for all these lens to arrive on EBay at such a good price.
